I had created another topic similar to this on the old forum "What Canadian Death Metal Band is best?" but now I have decided I want to create a new thread but more broad. Canada is home to many great metal bands especially in the genre of death metal. What Canadian Metal Band do you think is best and why? What is your favorite album by the band? What do you think of the other Canadian bands? Please refrain from picking other if your choice is Rush because I don't want them included in this pole because I don't consider them metal.

I couldn't chose between two bands so my favorite Canadian Metal bands are Quo Vadis and Devin Townsend. Devin Townsend because they put on a great live show and all of their albums are amazing. My favorite Devin Townsend album is Infinity because it has my favorite song by them "Bad Devil". Quo Vadis because they are the best Technical Death Metal band in my opinion. All of their albums are great but my favorite is Defiant Imagination. Their riffs are amazing and Yanic Berciers drumming is untouchable IMO.

Other Canadian bands that I like are Cryptopsy, Into Eternity, Kataklysm, Strapping Young Lad, and Annihilator.

I chose Kataklysm. The only one I know. Shadows And Dust is one great album, with crashing drums.

Also, I don't get why Voivod and Anvil are not in the list anyways... why isn't Quo Vadis winning ????
I thought it was obvious to the whole wide world that our dear Quo Vadis is the f-ing best band in here...
the most inspiring and melodic IMO. They... simply kick asses and the drumming is insane !

Favs:
- On The Shores Of Ithaka
- Silence Calls The Storm
- Hunter/Killer
- Absolution
- Break The Cycle
- Dream (awesome instrumental)
- Legions Of The Betrayed

Polls are generally about popularity. Annihilator, Kataklysm, and Strapping Young Lad are all more popular than Quo Vadis.

There wasn't much buzz about Anvil before their movie came out. Couldn't tell you why Voivod isn't in their and Martyr is...Just look at the date of the poll - 2006. Some of these bands were more relevant back then. Anvil wasn't so much.

Oh no don't worry, about quo vadis I was more sarcastic, obviously imo it is the best canadian band... but I was kidding when saying (I thought it was obvious to the whole world). No wonder Annihilator is alot more known than them and also alot of other bands from ca (explaining the other, probably cos of voivod).

Eh, it's hard to read sarcasm in text. After close to 6 years on this site, you'd be surprised at the absurd comments I've seen that actually were genuine. Your comment was at least fairly logical.

Anyways, yeah, if we updated this poll with more current bands, I bet the poll options (and the results) would look way different.

Oh its okay I have absolutely no doubts that alot of people make stupid comments, actually i've noticed it more than often but I guess next time i'll make sure to make it more obvious when doing sarcasm But I'm curious to know which is actually your favorite.

Probably 3 Inches Of Blood. I hear a lot of demos, EPs, etc. from small-time local acts that I really like, but I rarely see any follow-ups from most of these bands. 3 Inches is one of those bands that's been consistently decent, and leaves me anticipating the next release.
Some favs and why I didn't choose them:
- Cryptopsy? used to be high on the list for me, but we all know what happened there.
- Protest The Hero? Released 1 album I'm really into, the other 2 left me with a feeling of indifference.
- Into Eternity? Same reason as Protest The Hero. The Scattering Of Ashes I loved, Incurable Tragedy I liked the overall sound but wasn't left with much impression when it comes to individual songs, and I'm not too into their pre-Stu Block material
- The Agonist? Loved their latest, not so much their first. Also, not the type of thing I could listen to for extended periods of time.
- Unexpect? Once again, find them really exciting, but can't listen to them for extended periods of time.
- Anvil? Handful of decent albums, start to bore me if I listen to more than say 2 albums in one sitting.
- Bison? Love a lot of their riffs, find a bit of filler on their albums.
- Cancer Bats? Really into their latest, really sludgy. I can see them getting better and better. Still too fresh on my radar to tell how much of an impact they've made for me.

Some bands that I could see myself being really into in the future, but haven't put out enough to take the top spot yet:
Mares Of Thrace
Jagged sounding sludge, really good experimental shit like Made Out Of Babies.
http://www.myspace.com/maresofthrace

Rusted Dawn
Great Slayer-esque crossover.
http://www.myspace.com/rusteddawn

Titans Eve
Some Testament sounding stuff. I did an interview with them a few days ago, I'll be posting it soon. Great guys, good band.
http://www.myspace.com/titanseveofficial

Viathyn
Cool sounding power metal, not the greatest thing ever, but really promising sounding.
http://www.myspace.com/viathyn

Barn Burner
More great punkish fueled stoner metal.
http://www.myspace.com/theinfamousbarnburner

Death Valley Driver
Down worship, but hey, it kicks ass.
http://www.myspace.com/deathvalleydriverpei

Omega Crom
A lot like 3 Inches Of Blood, except both ends are more extreme, their harsher parts are more extreme and aggressive, their power metal parts are little more grandiose. Very raw at this point, but they seem like they've got a lot of promise.
http://www.myspace.com/omegacrom/music

Bloated Pig
Great dirty Motorhead sound.
http://www.myspace.com/bloatedpigmusic/music

Hope that will keep you entertained for a few minutes.

...Oh yeah, to answer your question; 3 Inches Of Blood.
