Once again, the fourth edition of the biggest French extreme music festival will take place in the heart of the vineyard of Nantes. Hellfest 2009 is already being announced as the biggest Metal event ever to hit France. No less than 108 bands from across the globe will spread across four stages to play a three-day marathon of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Rock, Hardcore, Death Metal, Glam, Sludge, Doom, Black Metal, Grind, Thrash, Industrial, Progressive, Punk, and more. You'll also find our Extreme Market with more than 40 vendors, a tattoo parlor, various restaurants, a wine bar, and a lot of entertainers, including a ring with the best French wrestlers. All that in a well decorated and illuminated outdoor area near the fortified town of Clisson, with its fantastic heritage. We invite you to walk around the heart of the city, which will also offer more entertainment and expositions. The camp ground and its Metal Corner will constitute the best place to begin or continue the party all night long and maybe meet people? Concerts DJ Sets, and more!
Hellfest will be more than a series of concerts: it will be a nonstop party, a place to escape the tedium of our drab society and recharge your batteries with positive energy!

There is an international airport called NANTES ATLANTIQUE AIRPORT, located at 30km from the festival grounds. A shuttle busses between this airport and the festival is running from Thursday June 18 and Monday June 22. You will find more information about flights:

The camping site is free and near to the festival!
The campsite doors open Thursday 18 June at 2pm upon presentation of your ticket. We will give you your festival bracelet and all you'll have to do is to set up your tent!
This campsite is only for those holding a 1 or 3 day pass!
A toilet-shower block will also be available.

Holy shit the program is fucked up big time, too many good bands in just 3 days, if i were organizer i'd have extended it to 4 days or something, i mean WASP and Mastodon get 45 minutes to play, Dream Theater just one hour(that would mean they'd play only 2-3 songs lol), Amon Amarth and Moonspell one hour or so each, i wouldn't complain if i could attend it but it seems pretty weird.

An hour for a band max gives you better opportunities to check out UNKNOWN bands, Why watch the bands you already know to death? It is much more fun discovering something great you had never heard of before.

Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 26.04.2009 at 17:17 hmmm well you are right to think that, given you know tons of bands already it's good to see some new stuff, but i'm speaking out of my experience.. at least if it were one of my favorite bands, such as Iced Earth, i'd sure as hell preferred if they played for much more than an hour. and you are completely right about Dream Theater... now they can't play Erotomania and the likes  still i predict their set will consist of a Learning to Live-The Dark Eternal Night-The Glass Prison-Fatal Tragedy(just listed random songs lol) acoustic medley with extended guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, kazoo, fart and tambourine solos... :

But of course the word poser does not mean that a band isn't metal, it just means they are posing and posturing, whihc Manowar of course have always done.
