Finland is one of the best metal countries they have so many great metal bands and they have great styles like COB,ETOS,norther and kalmah and the folk, like Korpiklaani,Moonsorrow,Finntroll,Winrtersun etc. but give me your point of view what band do you think is better and why

for me it is Stratovarius its one of my favorite bands, i love everything on it , the vocals (Kotipelto is the best damn singer ever) , the guitars are just perfect, the keyboards too , bass and drums are outstanding, yes i know that most of the songs of Stratovarius have the same structure but i still love those guys;D

I vote for Amorphis, they have been extremely consistent with their albums and have always managed to impress me with some fantastic songs on each one, even with their weaker albums like Tuonela and Far From The Sun i was able to find a song or two that I loved. Sentenced is also awesome.

I'd probably have to go with Nightwish, cause Sinergy were originally Swedish. If you still want to count them, then its Goss and co. all the way.

I'd love to say Wintersun but I don't want to get killed by an angry mob so I'll go with Nightwish (ignoring the period with Anette Olzon of course)

Good one indeed. World Without God is easily one of the best albums of 1991, even with all the "classics" that year.

from the early days:
Depravity
Necropsy
Purtenance

from the newer bands:
Corpsessed
Cryptborn
Krypts

Edit: and of course Hooded Menace

Stone is my favorite Finnish band because from this scene I haven't heard anything better (full discography) ... maybe only individual albums (Oz - 'Fire In The Brain', CoB - 'Something Wild').

Other.
My choice is Beherit.
Their Drawing Down the Moon is such a savage black metal album.
Excellent use of altered vocals and spacey synths.

Also I don't see the big hype surrounding Children of Bodom.
I've found pretty much all their stuff mediocre and some really lame.
But that's just my opinion.

Just because someone hasn't listened to a band doesn't inherently make them a newcomer.

I recognize all the bands on this list, even if I haven't listened to all of them. I was just saying I haven't listened to enough Amorphis to tell if they are really as great as I think they are right now. I'm sure there are people who have been in metal since it began, but don't know any of these bands because they have no interest in modern metal.

Finland is one of those countries for me that was amazing during the 00's but a country that doesn't seem to catch my eye these days for new bands.

From the list above i'm going to vote from Stratovarius, followed closely by Nightwish and then Moonsorrow. Those bands were all pretty inspirational for me in developing my music tastes.

My favorite band from Finland is a rather obscure prog/power band called Tunnelvision; they released two albums and then disbanded. It's a really catchy band, with some nice songwriting, competent musicians. A shame I dare say, this band is so little known.

Other bands? I like Yearning, again, such a shame the musician behind this band passed away.

For me, Nightwish were a good band until 2002, I don't like them after that.

The famous Stratovarius are quite good, although they have some uninspired music as well; their last two albums were surprisingly good.

Thunderstone are quite nice as well, although their last album (Dirt Metal) was quite weak if you ask me.

I like Poisonblack but (weirdly) I do not like Sentenced

Amorphis has some albums that I like (i admit I don't like their early albums )
For My Pain made a great album, a shame (again) they did not make more music.

Last but not least, I think Leverage is a nice band as far as melodic metal goes.

I'll get back here if I forgot anything

It's been all Sweden and USA for me recently. Greece and Norway are probably the next two.

Djent is not something i really like, unless it's Paul Wardingham.

I picked "other..." while pointing on Ensiferum.

To be heard, Children of Bodom, Moonsorrow, Korpiklaani and Nightwish are great too.
