Actually, I can't think of any other bands that have an album planned. Yeah, Candlemass, but I'm never excited about them. I'll probably pick it up when it's released, but I can surely live without it.

I'm expecting that the new album from Vader to be brutal!! Then we have Slayer, Suffocation, I certain that it will be a awesome year!

From what I am hearing the new Dream Theater album is supposed to be up to the quality of I&W and SFAM. Let us hope so.

Eagerly expecting the new Funeral Mist in the end of February....

Hoping for it to be the top release of the year.

I can also hope for the new Shining, but I'm way more excited about Funeral Mist.

You're right, I definetely think they're going to rule this year, every article or interviews are going to be focused on these bands (the first ones you mentioned). I also think the press its really going to be aware and promote the new Slayer album

...uhh, I forgot about the new Hypocrisy album, hopefully Peter can gives a great record

Overall its going to be a hell of a year!

Hopefully if Agalloch really do release an album it will be as good as the others. Another one is Immortal. If we see the release of the next album in 09 I'm sure it will shoot grimness juice on anything in its path

Well about Slayer (the only of the "big" I didn't mention) I believe that it is not so possible that they will make a great album. I don't know why, this is my feeling. Surely though they will concern us a lot! but I really don't see them making a truly great album. It's been many years since the last time. Personally to call it great I want it to be much better than Christ Illusion...

I hope Orphaned Land won't be disappointing. Adagio's new creation has been enough of frustration. I also hope Diablo Swing Orchestra will blow us away with something original as they did in '06.

Their first album is okay but almost entirely by a different band. Only the vocalist/guitarist is still the same. And it is more brutal than the upcoming one, whcih is more technical and more song focused with nice melodies in it as well. But then again now guitarist nr.2 is ex-Necrophagist, the drummer is ex-Necrophagist and the bassist is ex-Pestilence (Spheres) especially the bass is great on the upconming Obscura. IMO superior to Steve DiGiorgio and who have you not.

The return of the high-pitched grindcore screams, yay This album is fun, some parts sound a little more like oldschool grindcore than Smear Campaign. A real riff fest IMO. I like it a lot. That probably means you'll hate it with all your heart lol.

The only albums I'm looking forward to are the new Shining, Isole and Orphaned Land (if they ever get their lazy arses to release it). I'm not really aware of who's supposed to be releasing stuff in 2009. I'll take whatever comes my way.

Heathen, Toxik, Tenet, Exodus, Asphyx (the new song on their MySpace is fucking cool), Gorgoroth (both), Behemoth, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Dying Fetus (if it comes out this year) Lamb of God, Deftones, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, Wormed, Slayer, Megadeth, Suffocation, Kronos, Waco Jesus, Candlemass, Vader (with Vogg on guitar!), Defiance, Absu, Funeral Mist (didn't know they were releasing an album til now), Torsofuck, Brutal Truth, Destroyer 666, Pestilence, Anaal Nathrakh (they never let me down), Mastodon, Anata, Abominable Putridity (their new vocalist is even more brutal), Abysmal Torment (the drums sound like shit in their new songs on MySpace though), Putrid Pile, Circle of Dead Children...

The new Cattle Decapitation album is fucking good, but the new Kreator album is pretty average to me.

I WAS waiting for this one. Bought it Jan 23rd. It's worth the waiting. Listened to it at least 10 times and will listen another 10 times this week.
I like it more than Smear Campaign and that was a very good album.

I 'm with you on the big names. Morbid Angel at last...Obituary is (almost) always on the spot and I have high hopes for the rest.
Other big ones: new Belphegor, Hypocrisy, Gorgoroth and Samael
I hope the new Pestilence is good.
I'm also witing to hear the new Asphyx and God Dethroned.
And new 1349, Absu, Brutal Truth, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Benediction, Sigh, Kult Of Azazel...Too much.
I just hope there are few super releases this year and with such a list it will.
To answer the question: I think Morbid Angel and Pestilene will rule in 2009!

Dude like...we used to have very similar tastes back when the forum was old and nasty...remember? We used to talk about Antigama together, and we used to be like the only ones praising a band that I don't even remember lol.
