Why is netherlands called "low land" ? (i know nederland = lowland in ducth) but i mean why is it "low" .. is it below sea level ? .. how come it doesnt get engulfed with water?

Yes it mainly belowes ee level and they make dambs(IMO it calls dambs) and pump/suck watter and there new land , simply see watter and if you look at map IMO 70% Ned is belowe see level

If its such a dengerous place to live and risk being sink into the ocean, then why did people live there in the first place ?

Japan is better .....
.....look at history celtic gtribe sin south, germans in nord , I dont know names in english of those tribes who lived there and aRomans have interests about thet theritory , well .... in old days there was not so many ppl living

Quick question for the dutch (so that's basically marcel and lucas ) ... i'll be "Passing by" Amsterdam for four and a half hours, so what's a good coffee place (or pub) near the Airport area that i can try a "local flavour" before i catch my next flight

Nevermind that ... my four nd a half hours in Schipol airport weren't productive at all, but at least i got to buy some souvenirs from the gift shop so i can tell my friends that i've been to the netherlands lol

Yeah if I was to learn Dutch I imagine I could learn German pretty easily. Although I'm pretty fucking lazy so that's probably not going to happen

Sounds good indeed. Seems they are like an easier and simpler language than German. So like K7 said maybe dutch is a good place to getting into germanic languages.
