Depends on what I want, but some REALLY good ones: Haandbryggeriet Røyk Uten Ild (Smoke without fire), Haandbryggeriet Norwegian Wood. Delicious smokey beer! Hornbeer Winterporter is also really good. Could probably write a long list but that's the first ones I thought of atm

Störtebeker Bock 6.5%
Since I havnt drink so much bocks in my life this was interesting, I want one more, decent beer, but I don't wanna say super special. I have seen they products online, seems to try list, I only know hefe weizen what was Ok to me, well comparing whit choice here of bocks, good one,

Malduguns just (some months ago) start make a IIPA (Imperial India Pale Ale) whit name ''Lauvas Pacietība'' (lion's patience) and also new stout ''Akacis'' (whirpool)

wht such brewery did not existed like 10 years ago (and I am skeptic IMO Lv folks wont apriciate IPA beers and stouts, I Hope it stays underground)

Erdinger - Hefe/Weizen Dunkel
To e honest I don't know, I only give this beer extra points because its dunkel (No I don't talk about Munchen type dark lager(only lager what I like BTW) , since dark beers are so underrated, people don't drink those, are afraid of trying? and I read a story in late 19th century when lager, pilsner born weizen beers was out of fashion, and it reborn in 70's 60's but still dunkel weizens are rare and hard to get. my friend was living galf year in Brno and PRaha he told, real Cz beers is not possible get outside, many 90% are in pubs, fiewv pubs and hard to get ....when I wa strying Cz beers here, I was little bit disapointed because , I thought why Cz beer is so famose, taste like shit ... well ansver is best are there and now less n less theye export , and shame ppl there start liking maisntream beer

I have Rus friend, well he cant take real beer here, so much sinec EO, border ... but he told there are small breveries what still made old school beer an home made as well.. great part of katarine I and Tsar days were imperial stout, porter any beer where is name imperial

I am boycotting Stiegl. Spent a day in Salzburg a year ago, hoped to visit Stieglkeller after going up to Hohensalzburg.

They were closed for the week.

Schneider weisse tap 6 (8%)
IMO 1th of this beer was Tap 6 what I tried, then came tap 4.
This was maybe best hefe/weizen what I have tried so far, dark, brow couloir, looks wary dirty, but rich full flavor, great head and smell, taste weird, cant describe how it taste, definitely as wheat beer must taste. Balances I felt little strong taste as 8% but it was decent, more you keep beer it breaths and don't lost taste, but that strong alcohol taste is gone, more you shake a glass more dirt it has, good beer, I will try buy those more, one of rare hefe weizen what is good in winter, and no matter cold or warm it don't lost its taste. BTW before I put it in glass, I tryd little from the bottle it wasn't good at all, well comparing whit lager and pilsners what I can drink from bottle and weaker hefe weizens and other beers what sometimes at summer if I drink ouyt in the nature , bbq what so ever place when glass is not option, this would not be what I recommend , Tap 4 can be good from bottle, in glass it get its taste and so on

Jämtlands påsköl 4.5%
I like this brewery's Julöl(x mass beer) and Imperial Baltic porter, so I bought this one ? disappointment, since special beer, seasonal, must be more special as not bad, but not super, somewhere between ale. Red color, but red was like more like water.. smell great, little bit remained me IPA, bitter hoppy taste but not so strong hops as in real IPA, and it became lighter after time ?. I don't think I will buy this at this year, good idea was to buy one bottle to try and next Easter .. some other Easter special beers?.but for Swedish beers this was not bad , if they would made lager it would be worst.

Was largely a joke, but not sure why they'd be closed all week. Was the only one in Salzburg on my radar... right in the heart of where we were exploring.

Had enough awesome German beer anywho.

And not so much of a boycott, really. their helles is decent enough, but any supermarket or liquor store here will have better options anyhow. If I want helles, as a counter to my diet of US Pale Ales and IPAs, I just go Hacker-Pschorr.

Almost all kind germen hefe weizen are possible gte outside , Schneider Weize (Tap 4 yes, Tap 6 dunno), Weihenstephaner, Franzikaner, , Paulaner, Spaten, Löwenbrau ...black lagers, lagers. also dunkels (Munchen dark lager).... same goes for Aech Schlenkerna Rauchbier
Märzen Special / Oktoberfest too ... 3-4 brieveries made export as well ,maybe all
Some bocks to
harder is majbock , altbier, keller bier, kölsh , must go to Germany to pubs , but major beers are for export, some rare ... well rare beers are hard to get

Dugges Påsklager 6.5%
Surprise, in positive meaning, dark color and interesting smell, technically it calls schwarzbier, but it had some porter character, little bit as Nils Oskars rokporter, not so super strong as rauchbiers, real smoked porters, but definitely not lager, little roosted hops and malt. I like dark lagers, schwarcbiers, dunkels, special lager can be good, but this was way to good, I would give it a porter character?.seems its out this year, shame, I will buy it next year maybe 10 bottles, but Nils Oksars rökporter can replace it(even it more smoked) this was not smoked?and smell was awesome, weird smell good one

Had a nice Italian barrel Aged sour ale yesterday. If you are into beers like Geuze, you might like it. Called BeerBrugna, by LoverBeer brewery.

Also had Haandbryggeriet Humlekanon. (hop cannon in English ) an IBU of 160, American pale ale. Not nearly as bitter and hoppy as I expected it to be.

Enjoying a BrewDog San Diego scotch ale at the moment! Damn good!

I had one of the Iron Maiden Trooper beers. Surprisingly it was really, really good.

And at nearly $10 a bottle, so it should be.

little overprises, but damn good for % of alcohol what it has, it has not that damn watter taste what has many beers , speclly whit low alcohol % ... well I heaed british casck ales can have 3,5% and they had richful taste

The trooper didn't really do much for me the last time I had one. It's good, but not great.

I have a bottle of BrewDog Dog A at home. Looking forward to that one!

Trooper is good comparing to % alcohol it has, and darker coulor they dont made it light piss lager otr pale ale (what is more pale nowadays as it was when it was in old days) its red coulor, light beer, but richful taste, better as mainstream scandinavian piss beers what are popular here...I better drink Trooper as Norlands Guld , Åbro , Heni or Carly Bergy piss beers

I have tryd mnay UK ales whit low alcohol % and well ... many were piss , I know they have good cask ales, ales only there what taste awesome, so trooper is best what you can have here ...

I think a beer can be good with low alcohol content. There's a few decent "factory brews" here in Oz that are light beers and aren't too bad.

Mind you Australian beer is generally light - 4.7% - 4.9% is the average for Australian beers.

4.7% is also common here in Norway since it's the strongest alcohol percentage allowed to sell in regular grocery stores. Anything stronger has to be bought at "Vinmonopolet", roughly translated it means "The wine monopoly", which is a government owned chain of stores. Mainly located in cities and large towns. Fortunately, the Vinmonopolet-store that's local to me has an expanded selection of beers and wine, as one of only three of the stores in the country. Quite a nice selection of craft beers to choose from there.


Other good beer related news: I know BrewDog is searching for a location to start a pub in Oslo too! Looking forward to it!

This sounds kinda weird to me (and possibly interesting). 4.7% is pretty low. I think the average beer here has about 5-6% alcohol by volume. Regular grocery stores here can sell beverages up to 15%; drinks with a higher percentage can be sold only in a (special) liquor shop. This means normal grocery stores can sell pretty much any beer, most wine, and some other things. This is primarily noticeable in the mixed drinks section, where a lot of things are 14.9% here (I know this because I was a shelf stocker for years at a grocery store).

As for a beer recommandation: La Trappe is an amazing Dutch brewery with a good selection of beers; I liked every one of them that I've had. I'm primarily a fan of their so-called tripel beer. Also, most Belgian beer is really good.

It depends, really. If that Vinmonopolet thing doesn't exploit anything and the prices are good, then I suppose there's nothing really to complain about.
