There's no Demilich thread in the new forum, so this here is meant to fill the gap.

For those who haven't heard anything about them:

Demilich is a Finnish (old-school)technical death metal band. They've only released one full-length called Nespithe. For more information check Demilich profile here in MS(recently added).

All of their stuff(including Nespithe is downloadable from their site)

Let the Demilich talk begin.

Has anyone got a European site that sells Nesphite, or a site that I can pay in Euro's? Damn, I fucking need that album soooo badly. Has one of my favorite friends since I heard them and still are.

You can buy the reissue from Alice's Records, an English distro I've used quite regularly since 1993. They have it listed in their online catalogue anyway. They're a bit more expensive than many distros to be honest, but very reliable and quick in my experience.

That's not Euros, as far as I know

Sorry for the mix up! For your information though, some English distros do accept Euros (for instance Supernal Music) so I assumed Alice's would as well.. But no, they currently only take pounds, but are looking at accepting euros and US dollars in the future.

You mean you signed up to that list? damn, I don't think I can do that. You'll see, at the moment of printing I'll be damn broke and get into trouble. I'll just have to pay way too much on E-Bay then.

So back to the music - what do you all think of the demo material in comparison to the album? I'd say that the demo 'The Four Instructive Tales of Decomposition' has the distinctive Demilich sound, although the songs are rather more straightforward with less twists and turns in the structure and time signatures.

I've heard most of the material available in their website. But still, Nespithe is their peak.
" ...Somewhere Inside the Bowels of Endlessness..", "The Echo" and "The Four Instructive Tales of Decomposition" are a bit bland in my opinion.

Demilich certainly makes unique kind of Death metal. i just love the album Nespithe - its nothing like the usual redundant shit . The sound is certainly eerie and distant- the time signatures, riifs, and vocals - Just DIABOLIC.

Saw these guys play with Biolich a while ago. Awesome show and awesome dudes. Antii is such a killer guitarist. His vocals will perpetually be the lowest and guttural in death metal. I almost lost it when they played "The Cry". They sounded HUGE too. Biggest sounding band I've heard live.

Completely professional when I saw them in Austin and Houston. Worth attending. Also a huge number of Demilich tshirts in the crowd.

It's been a long while since my last post in this thread and my means of payment have improved, haha. I was lucky enough to find a copy of the Nesphite album, with the "The Four Instructive Tales ...of Decomposition" demo. I'm very pleased with that.

Hehe nice post man. My love didn't wither either, though it didn't grow either. I have to say, Nesphite is a weird album. For me, it's a rare listen, something I really need to desire, but once that moment has arrived, it's the best thing in the universe it seems.

Remember when I told you I didn't get the Demilich CD in hellfest because I already got an original promo of it ? I fucking regret it each time I think about it

And I only realised of late that Nespithe is TheSpine, and Erecshyrinol is Nolyricshere. And apparently everyone knew that haha

Grumpy Old Fuck
Good news, I received the following e-mail today:

"(Please read this message to its very end!)

Dear you,

You may have heard the plans of Demilich's demo compilation have changed.
If not, here are the announcements and pieces of info:

"From naivety to sheer intelligence.
From unimaginative to groundbreaking.
From amateurish to... well, less amateurish.
It will finally be available as one. Everything Demilich has ever recorded.
Demilich: 20th Adversary of Emptiness 3LP. Winter 2013."

"Let's make this official; The Demilich demo compilation will not only be a
demo compilation, but will also include Nespithe. Everything we've
recorded, from 1991 to 2006, in one package, with old and new artwork,
available this year as a 3-LP and 2-CD. Both through Svart Records."

"The three vinyls included will be named this way: Nespithe; V34ish6ng 0f
emptiness; Em9t2ness of van2s1ing."

"Dunno about the vinyl coloring, we'll be talking about that with Svart
later."

"I thought the best way to get this all out is to release everything in the
same package. I suppose including Nespithe doesn't add much price to it,
and after all, it will be remastered (with good taste) from the original
studio DAT, whereas every single Nespithe release before this has been done
from the 16-bit CD version which was mastered in 1993."

"The packaging hasn't been set, yet. Most probably a box set, and possibly
with Nespithe in its own jacket, and the other two in a gatefold jacket.
Nespithe may have the original artwork. We'll let you know more when we
know more."

...

Anyway, you once left your email address on our pages hoping to get a
totally different product. There was supposed to be a demo compilation
2-LP, autographed, and limited to 397 copies. Well, things have changed.

However, we (Demilich+Svart) decided to ask if you'd still want a special
edition. We would print and sell it ONLY to those who originally added
their addresses on our web pages, and only to those who commit to buying
it. The commitment won't be the kind of "you sign and you buy or Igor will
chop your fingers off" commitment, but still, if you tell about your will
to buy this one, we expect you to buy it. Otherwise we'll end up having
lots of special edition sets to burn on a bonfire. Remember that this one
will never be sold to anyone else but you who got this email. There will be
anything from 500 to 1500 copies, but we expect it to be less than 1000.

We don't have facts about how the special edition will differ from the
normal LP set. The price should be the same, or if it's notably more
expensive to print, it'll only be slightly more expensive to you. We don't
even know what the normal set will cost, so please don't ask. Just
speculate, if that's what you like to do. Anyway, it'll be different, and
will be a rarity. We'll most probably number it, and three original members
of Demilich will autograph them all.

So, think about this for a moment. We'll collect the addresses for a couple
of weeks and see if there's the demand. If not, there won't be any special
edition.

If you think you want to commit to buying the thing, please head to the
address below, and fill in the exact address that you originally gave (and
which received this email.) That's all you have to do for now. We'll let
you know more later."
