Don't recall seeing that before. Seems like an unnecessary rule and pretty sure there's plenty of threads with more than a thousand posts in them. I'll ask some others though who have been Staff longer than myself.

Yeah some time ago threads over 1000 were locked. Now any post over 1000 just deletes the oldest post from the thread so it'll always stay at 1001 or so.
