One that you believe belongs in everyone's collection.
For me it is Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
I love how the entire album sounds and feels, David Gilmours playing is full of emotion.
The song Wish You Were Here touches me every time I hear it, takes me back to when my father passed away...
Dark Side Of The Moon may be more popular, but for my ears, this is one of the greatest albums ever.
What is yours?

06.09.2012 - 20:36 Written by Fat & Sassy! on 06.09.2012 at 20:17 Awesome. Yeah, I have a hard time deciding between the two. Hounds is perhaps more balanced and polished, it's like the perfect pop album. I love how the two sides of the vinyl are actually different too, the first part being a ridiculous hit parade and the latter calming down for some atmospheric, stranger pieces. But the Dreaming is just so in-your-face and bold, with really cool overblown production. I think it may also be more consistent, never really losing steam. Having two tracks less (I think?) has probably something to do with that. Still, both those albums are among my most beloved. I like everything she's done, but they stand out. Could add something from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds to my list, but I have a hard time picking a favorite album. EDIT: I just played The Dreaming again, and I'm pretty sure it's my favorite. It opens with similar memorable pop songs as Hounds (perhaps not quite as strong), but it's the second half that makes the difference. Hounds has plenty of cool, experimental tracks like Jig of Life, Waking the Witch and Watching You Without Me, but they're a bit incoherent with the rest of the album. The Dreaming does it better, in that of the 5 last tracks three are absolutely stunning: The Dreaming, Night of the Swallow and Get Out Of My House. An album which can save its strongest moment to the very end without relying on any filler before that is perfectly balanced.

07.09.2012 - 05:49 Written by IronAngel on 06.09.2012 at 20:36 Indeed, but I think the first few tracks of Hound of Love seal the deal for me. The Dreaming does have much better flow (and the second half of the album is 10/10 brilliant), but I think the singles on Hounds of Love and more typical 80's sound and production win me over. I still adore both albums and her previous ones a lot though. Her discography is incredibly consistent. ^~^

Account deleted I've been listening to this album so much for like the past month; the first time I've ever gotten so into a non metal album. Also been listening to this a ton lately. And this would be without a doubt my favorite non metal album. There's two songs on here that aren't immortal timeless classics, and the rest is among the best music I've heard. I'm sure some people will agree with this one .

My personal favorite non-metal album is sort of a tie between Foxtrot by Genesis and Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode. Both are awesome and provide a ton of atmosphere.

There's one album I got this Christmas which is probably going to be my biggest guilty pleasure for a long time: Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven On Earth". That said, a close second is "The Best Of Clive Gregson" (for the benefit of those who don't know who he is, he's a folk rock performer who founded a band named Any Trouble in the late 70's and pretty much caused another UK singer-songwriter boom when he went solo in the mid-late 80's).
