Two new types of notifications have been added to keep track of what people in your Friends list are up to, and to make the list itself slightly more useful 
Friends' birthdays
Pretty self-explanatory - whenever it's one of your friends' birthday, you receive a notification. This cannot be disabled, but receiving one notification per year shouldn't be a big annoyance.
Friends' publications
If a person in your Friends list publishes an article, blog, concert review, review, interview or funny stuff, you receive a notification. This can be disabled in your Settings.

Indeed with a such reminder, no excuse to forget the birthdays. Friends' publications notification is useful too. So, good implementations for both of these new types of notifications.

i originally set up a myspace account with the intention of having ZERO friends. don't really like Myspace, seldom use it, but ended up with like 8 friends.

well, it happen to old profile of my "Ashes To Wind" project - i deleted "Tom" and said "the only friend there will be Ennorath, the "parent band"...now there are 8 friends...although i never approved anyone, which is the most weird thing
