Just a quick preference poll. Self-explanitory. You either prefer Akerfeldt's clean vocals or his harsh vocals. Explain your pick or simply vote. I picked his harsh vocals. I enjoy the clean vocals a lot, but he has such a powerful growl.

You shood put both to, its like4 Mickeal Stanne's clean vs harsh, I like both because both styles is part of Opeth and he can do both, he's talantred vocalist, I wont vote because I like both and bot are good, I like when its mixed

Once again, I agree with you Jiri! I love both but you forced me to choose. And after some careful thought, I came to the conclusion that no one can compete with growls like that where some people can compete with his singing. If one voice had to be silenced, it would be a shame, but I hate to never hear his harsh again.

Both...you can't have one without the other with Opeth...although I enjoyed Damnation very much...

I've voted for his clean vocals, he's got excellent clean vocals, i wish they did another album only with clean vocals.

Akerfeldt's clean vocals are amazing... his harsh vocals however SUCK in opeth (and RULE in Bloodbath) ... i mean, his Opeth harsh vocals aren't even "death metal" ... while in Bloodbath.. he's like the perfect vocalist for death metal.... very weird "indeed"

("indeed", i've always wanted to say this word )

I voted harsh, but I love his clean vocals as well. Hard choice, man, WHY DID YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE JUST ONE??

Because that is the challenge here. If I had a "both" option, everyone would choose it. I love both almost equally as well. Deep down inside, we all prefer one over the other.

@ezz_zombie: How can you say that his harsh vocals aren't death metal?
@JohnDoe: They probably will do another album like Damnation...

I enjoy both the clean and harsh vocals so I can't really vote. And yes another Damnation-esque album would be sweet.

Harsh easily, those growls are just incredible at times. even outside Opeth. If you lsiten to the song "Brave" by Katatonia you will understand why I voted for harsh. His scream is like 30 seconds long on that song!

His clean vocals are really beautiful too, but overdosed can get quite boring.

I think opeth should do an album with clean vocals but not acoustic guitars. I love the harsh vocals but I cant play any opeth album other than damnation with my gf in the car

Listen to his vocals in his other band "bloodbath" and you would be able to tell the difference... same guy, different band, MAJOR vocal difference !

I can't vote, because it really isn't much difference between his clean vocals and his harsh vocals. they're both excellent.

Exactly.. This is the point. When you compare Akerfeldt's clean and harsh vocals, you find out that his clean vocals are excellent, but in the other hand his harsh vocals are extraordinary.. As a Death Metal vocalist he performs the best possible job.. So I voted for his harsh vocals too..

I don't really prefer either one more than the other because it is the combination of the two that makes Akerfeldt so good. However if i have to choose one or the other i would be likely to go with his clean vocal purely because it is a lot more versatile. But I stick with my first comment, Akerfeldt would not be Akerfeldt without both styles.

I dont know if I can vote on this.. I love both sides of Opeth, it doesn't really matter to me if he's using harsh or clean vocals, as long as he keeps using them wisely like he's done so far. Besides I like harsh and clean vocals equally in general, so I cant really pick one.
