Disappointment of the year. I still can't get, how a band that reached such a high level with Astronomy, fell so low. Mediocore power metal album, with almost nothing catchy, memorable. Symphonic parts are just for the sake of symphonic parts, not that it gives something to music. Ech... So many expectations...

The whole album sound flat and compared to Astronomy, this sounds boring. Still you can enjoy this.

One of the most "Tolkenian" albuns I ever heard... Even if I really apreciatted this album, I think they should rename it to "the middle-earth chronicles"

Just released; only fans have voted thus far. Once it climbs in the charts, non-fans will vote either objectively (6s, 7s) and vote abusers will tank it with 1s and 2s.

Sounds cool, I specially love The Black Mare and Under The Gray Banner, but compare to Astronomy...yeah, this album sounds a little bit boring...

I thought this album was decent. Finally having a live official website with a decent design was a plus. That said. I think Under the Grey Banner would have been perfect if it was originally released in 2004 to complete their Dragon chronicles trilogy. It would have been a natural progression and would've paved way for their consequent albums Starfall and Astronomy.
The stylistic approach to UTGB was fast and hard hitting, with abrupt cutaways to slow tempo flute and keyboard movements. Although the production value of this album was extremely high, I think it fell short by having the orchestrated suite dominate the music, blending one song into another. The guitar work by Olof wasn't as focused as previous releases. Just a jest, but I wonder if the album's vision was why two founding members: Nicklas Magnusson and Christer "Zigge" Pedersen quit.
Astonomy spoiled me with the progressive power variety, but I do have a few track favorites with this one: 1) Fire And Brimstone and 2) The Black Mare.

Darker than their previous albums i think ,so symphonic, and... "harder", somehow reminds me of some of Rhaspody's songs
Loved "Fire and Brimstone" and "Throne Of Bones"

Apart from The Tempest, all tracks sound amazing and full of different interesting parts. I think it deserves an 8.6, for they have succeeded in creating a great story in an album and the production is great...

One of my favourite albums of 2011. And why did I give it 9 points? It's better than Infected by HammerFall, and I gave that one a 10.
I think I gonna consider my fanboyism for a while...

Just found this band and damm this shit is sick. so far ive listened to this album and Astronomy and both are great in their own ways! this is more pwer classic style yet they dont seem to feel the need to go hyper-speed on every song which is very nice. also the symphonic parts are cool and some catchy stuff
Fire and Brimstone is one of my fav songs of all time.
