You gotta to love those crazy Germans I used to love our underground scene back in the day but like nearly everywhere it has become over saturated. The weirdest place i've been for a gig is Amsterdam. Went to see Kreator there a few years ago. I didn't know it was possible to stand still at a Kreator gig but in Amsterdam hardly anyone moved. Myself an my girlfriend were able to go from the bar to the front row at will. Maybe they had too much smoke before the gig

AMsterdam is by far the worst city in The Netherlands to perform for a band. The Dutch audience in general is already quite arrogant and especially jaded because of the fact every single band plays this country at least once a year, but the people from Amsterdam are the single most arrogant in the country. Also when it comes to metal, which they have no right to be arrogant about at all since Amsterdam has never had a notable metal scene AT ALL.

I was torn between America (at least in the 80's and early 90's) and Sweden but I'm giving the latter the edge, especially in this era. In the past, there was Candlemass, Yngiwe, Bathory, as well as the great death metal and black metal bands that followed. Nowadays, there's still great bands going. I do like all the bands in the Uppsala Metal of Death crew (In Solitude, Watain, Degial, Invidious, Reveal, etc.) for they are some of the most convincing bands in recent times. I think Tribulation really set the standard for modern black/death metal with their last album. Morbus Chron is another interesting band I'd like to delve into a little more. Meanwhile, America's current crop of metal has very little to offer me, unfortunately. It makes me feel as though I was born in the wrong country.
