Rainy evenings have a vibe of their own: rainy evenings with entrancing atmosphere are astonishing. The wolves have returned to the throne room and the fourth chapter has been carved in stone. The highly anticipated Celestial Lineage has arrived and along with it the specialists of "Vastness And Sorrow" simply because that's what they always preserved; vastness and depth in terms of sound and an omnipresent escalating bitterness and sonorous rapture.

Not being one for black metal - the closest I came to understanding the genre was with Woods Of Ypres and Keep Of Kalessin - I decided to give Wolves In The Throne Room's Celestial Lineage a spin as a result of some widespread attention online.

I had my hopes up, and my hopes were met.

Wolves In The Throne Room are back and, somehow, despite adjusting their standard song structure from epic to more conventional length, they have managed to recapture some of the magick of their earlier albums that was absent on Black Cascade. A swell album that manages to capture and combine the ugliness of black metal with the majestic beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

I hope an official date is released soon. At least they provided an update on their website about the status of the album.

Perhaps it was my rock bottom expectations but this album has a great sound. Let's just forget the last album and ep. The ultimate hipster black metal band have returned.

The ultimate hipster black metal band have returned.

Just because some hipsters like them, doesn't make them "hipster black metal"

Looking forward to buying this

No but there's no bigger band that appeals more to hipsters (though Deathspell Omega are giving them a run for their money) thus they are a hipster black metal band. It's not a snipe at their music, rather the culture that has grown around them.

I still have to understand why they have a hipster fanbase (and by the way, is that true?)... I mean, they're just a (great) atmospheric black metal band.
Meh, whatever... Their music is wonderful and that's what really matters after all.

I love the album, but every time I listen to it, it feels like the album ends too quickly. I'm always left wanting more, so I just have to spin it again - with that same result.

The music is beautiful though, feels like Two Hunters 2.0.

I wasn't crazy over this band's first three albums, but this one is clearly much better. Definitely one of the better albums of the year in my opinion.

If it is true, its because they are from Olympia, Washington....hipster capital of the world.

I picked this up yesterday after blindly buying the new Opeth album just to be disappointed.

This lifted me out of that slump instantly, really an excellent work from WitTR. These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. They just have such a "natural" feeling approach to BM, I can't get enough.
