I see no one has mentioned Black Shape Of Nexus. Absolutely crushing, utterly riff-based sludge (except the Microbarome Meetings album which is pure drone) from Germany. They have a couple of releases available for download on their website, especially the Live in Mannheim tape is devastating. I've given a shot to pretty much their whole discography and you can't go wrong with these guys.

Nice find here. Post rock/metal from Serbia with a lot of "spacey" atmosphere. Added to my 2013 list.

terribly hyped band in Belgium and The Netherlands.

Extremely toothless mix of post metal and Nickelback like post grunge with horrible Britpop like vocals. Totally safe and uninspired.

That sums up my review, for the latest album by them, which will go on-line for Lords Of Metal on APril 1 or 2, btw, score 60/100

Awww bummer Marcel. I really enjoy this band. I like their not-so-serious attitude along with catchy-riff/structured songs. I read they are very popular over there in your neck of the woods.

although they are hyped here in The Netherlands and mags and radio tries to shove them down our throats they are totally not popular here, thank God. Only country they are popular is their native Belgium.

I got this album last year. This version may be their "polished" one. Good suggestion tho!
And yes, everyone should click on that Encircling Sea link on the right of the page. A terrific album and a contender for my AOTY!

Another gem found on the web...thank god for music blogs

Look To Windward - Fortunes Haze

A great mixture of clean and growl vocals, post and prog riffs and atmo and sludgy passages. Terrific!

I know its been about a year and a half since you posted this.. but I only just decided to do a forum search to see if anyone else had heard of this great artist. Seems you are the only one.

Really awesome, under-rated album.

I am hoping that fellow MSers checked this out. I really like this because it's so hard to put a tag on it. Is it prog? Post? Stoner? Sludge? A real mixed bag of genres.

Will do!
And while I'm here, sludge!:

Bandcamp

First track is cool with that ambient bit heading toward the back end.
Second one they do the same deal, gives off more of a stoner vibe.

Seattle, Washington 3-piece band that broke up in 2012. This is their last album, released in 2013. Very loud and not-so-serious, I like these little diversions...
