I see no one has mentioned Black Shape Of Nexus. Absolutely crushing, utterly riff-based sludge (except the Microbarome Meetings album which is pure drone) from Germany. They have a couple of releases available for download on their website, especially the Live in Mannheim tape is devastating. I've given a shot to pretty much their whole discography and you can't go wrong with these guys.

In the name of forests; In the name of stars; In the name of all the seas; In the name of storms... Proud sons of ancient nation; Proud sons of sacred song in the wind; Proud sons behind a mirror of ice who told... Fathers of the icy age!!
terribly hyped band in Belgium and The Netherlands.
Awww bummer Marcel. I really enjoy this band. I like their not-so-serious attitude along with catchy-riff/structured songs. I read they are very popular over there in your neck of the woods.

although they are hyped here in The Netherlands and mags and radio tries to shove them down our throats they are totally not popular here, thank God. Only country they are popular is their native Belgium.

I got this album last year. This version may be their "polished" one. Good suggestion tho!
And yes, everyone should click on that Encircling Sea link on the right of the page. A terrific album and a contender for my AOTY!
I know its been about a year and a half since you posted this.. but I only just decided to do a forum search to see if anyone else had heard of this great artist. Seems you are the only one.
I am hoping that fellow MSers checked this out. I really like this because it's so hard to put a tag on it. Is it prog? Post? Stoner? Sludge? A real mixed bag of genres.
And So I Watch You From Afar (post-rock) released a new album and is up for free download on their Bandcamp website (you'll need to key in the codeword first though)

Seattle, Washington 3-piece band that broke up in 2012. This is their last album, released in 2013. Very loud and not-so-serious, I like these little diversions... http://akimborocks.bandcamp.com/album/live-to-crush
^ this and Cold Blue Mountain are damn solid. Cheers man.
