Sweden's Dark Tranquillity may have been a half step behind some of the other leaders in the Gothenburg melodic death metal movement (In Flames and The Crown come to mind), but with "Damage Done", Dark Tranquillity are going not only going to get the praise they deserve, but be a hard act to follow in the process.

Ladies and gentlemen, Dark Tranquillity is proud to introduce their latest bombshell and you better give it a listen! In the typical current trend to make the now famous Gothenburg sound progress, "Damage Done" is the cornerstone of the arising splendid edifice. The band of Niklas Sundin and Mikael Stanne is still on top of everybody else in terms of creating headbanging riffs and memorable anthems and this album is an endowment to every metal freak on Earth.

Exactly...also an amazing live song.

Ya I have the CD with the live bonus track, and hearing the fans hum along to the main keyboard riff is awesome.

Agree this is a good album. I prefer the tracks where the keyboards aren't prominent. For me, they tarnish what could have been a truly great album. Very enjoyable nonetheless.

Such an amazing album, their best BY FAR. Everything about this album is great or perfect. Simply a masterpiece

Yeah, I agree. I've been listening to it a lot lately and it's definitely their best. I haven't listened to everything though, only Fiction, The Gallery, The Mind's I (their worst by far) and Character (my previous favourite of the band).

That being said, this is one of the few albums of which I cannot pick one or more favourite tracks; I like them all pretty much equally.

At this point in time I definitely wouldn't say it's their best "by far", but it is still their best. The Gallery is slowly approaching the top spot for me, but this one will always be amazing

Of the 5 albums I own (and thus have heard) of them, The Gallery is actually my least favourite after The Mind's I. It does contain a few great tracks (Punish My Heaven, The Gallery and ...Of Melancholy Burning), but I don't really care about the other tracks all that much. I like Character and Fiction pretty much equally, both are great.

This album was my first experience with Dark Tranquillity (and melodeath in general really) back in 2003. Still one of my fave DT albums alongside Projector and Fiction. I really love his singing voice, and I've always wanted to hear what HammerFall sounded like back in the early days when Mikael was their vocalist; it's too bad they never recorded anything before he left to form Dark Tranquillity.

Mikael Stanne and NIklas Sundin were already in Dark Tranquillity before they started HammerFall as a fun side project. Remember thoise two wer e part of the Original line up that formed DT inn 1991 and then they went to form hammerFall in 1993

Ah, guess I mis-recalled that. Never got that big into HammerFall, and it wasn't till like 5 or 6 years ago that I found out they were in HammerFall's original line-up. I tried searching for demos, and even old YouTube vids of early performances, but never could find anything so I moved on.

I am totyally not into HammerFall at all, as you could have guessed. Found out about the DT HammerFall link about 5 or 6 years ago as well, when talkkng to Sundin and Stanne first at Hellfest and later on in Utrecht after a show in their dressing room.

How can I not love the album, which contains my all-time favourite DT track, which is Cathode Ray Sunshine.
I guess, the most intense and in-the-face album in the band's discography.

Sorry, but it has to be Hours Passed In Exile all the way for me... Such an amazing track. Single Part Of Two as a secondary choice... But still The Gallery tops this release in all, by a bit, but it does it in my opinion
