That's great, I'm also gonna check out your stuff when I finally have more time again

Well, now I am nervous

But seriously, thanks in advance. Advice from capable songwriters and producers is simply priceless! Also, I am gonna make a promise here, once your album is released, if it doesn't get a staff review, I will submit a review of my own, to help draw more attention to your music.

I'm not a producer myself but I know a guy who is able to mix/master with a great sound if you need someone
Wow thanks again but first wait and see if you also like the other tracks, no need to rush haha

I think it's cool to listen what MSers have to offer, and it's pretty nice

Arcanewind has some good ideas, and overall the melodies and songwritting seems to have quite some work behind. Like others said, the biggest problem is the mixing and production. Thin guitars and a few obvious mistakes (like the end of White Frost). But I can't blame you, myself finding the mixing part as really complicated. It's hard to find a good balance if not correctly geared.

Hjel on the other hand seems to have a much better production. Best thing are those vocals. Great voice and very well recorded! Guitars are catchy, despite being so simple. I think the drums could benefit from a bit of variation, even some double strokes or basic fills really helps to make things more interesting. It's neat stuff though.

Thanks for listeing and for your feedback!

Might I inquire as to what mistake you refer to in The White Frost? I mean, it is a pretty messy song overall, but what specifically bothered you?

Well, if you check at 6:40 it looks like a mistake, and on that same keys passage all the sound is thrown to the left channel. Maybe that's just me being a bitch, and you actually intended that
And yeah it kinda sounds messy, as in ideas flying everywhere which gives the impression of not too structured. I don't mind that. It's quite cool and better than sticking to conventional stuff. But yeah, main thing I'd do would be more guitar thickness.

Never feel like a bitch for giving your opinion, dude, at least when it comes to my songs. I value criticism even more than I value praise

Anyway, that whole ending of that song is indeed meant to sound like things are breaking down, it is symobolic of giving up and death. (If you've played The Witcher video game series, which I can't recommend highly enough, then You will understand). The violin is supposed to sound like the record's breaking.

Still, hearing You say it is "quite cool" is a great compliment. It is my personal facvorite of my own tracks and I shall improve it in the future. As I said to Karlabos, EVERYONE, who has commented on my songs and given me advice, shall receive a free signed copy of my album, when I release it .

Just saw it, thanks for your feedback Funny that many people mention the vocals, while I just started doing it some months ago because I actually don't like singing too much, but my will against another guy as singer (had some bad experience last time) was somewhat stronger haha. Btw the vocals were recorded as if they were live, so with a mic in hand, because I couldn't maintain a steady distance and stay still when singing...

Guess I was surprised they sounded so "professional" When first heard I thought about bands like Negator or Der Weg... Like average BM raspy vocals, but well done.

I've seen some kind words (which I greatly appreciate) towards my drone metal project here: https://znmusic.bandcamp.com/releases . Thanks a lot, I'm real proud of it.

That's my only metal project but I've several more in the experimental spectrum.

My main one, Trouble Salad (noise/experimental/ambient/etc, a smorgasbord of things really): https://troublesalad.bandcamp.com/
Indentured Servant (100% harsh noise and power electronics brutality): https://myheavenisincompletewithoutviolence.bandcamp.com/
Math&Science (experimental electronica/IDM/noise/psychedelic/trance/breakcore, I tried to make some vaporwave and it evolved into this): https://mathscience.bandcamp.com/

I hope to expand to an actual band someday because I am only so good at trying to do everything, but for now it's just me. Given where I live, that is unlikely to change any time soon. I could ramble, but what's the point of that? Here's my not exactly gothic project, The Evergreen Conspiracy:

Rusted Earth
RUSTED EARTH

Not sure if anyone is still viewing this thread, but here we go...

https://rustedearth.bandcamp.com/releases - available as Name you Price.

This album is influenced by post-apocalyptic themes and musically, it is a mix of black metal, heavy metal, rock and maybe some post-metal. It's a style that I love and have been listening to for around 20 years. On future releases, Rusted Earth is not going to have too many restrictions on its style, apart from the fact that the core sound will contain metal. For this release, I made a conscious decision to trim the fat. You'll notice that the tracks are quite short for this style and that's because I wanted to have no filler at all. Well at least I don't think there is.

I've released the 6 track, 23 minute mini album/ep on bandcamp. I still plan on putting out a full length hopefully later this year.

A bit of a rundown for those looking for a quick listen.

Silence - Medium to fast paced. Second half is faster.

Outsider - The most rock influenced of all the tracks.

Darkness - One of the slower tracks.

Storm - By far the fastest track.

Shards - Starts slowly, has a mid section that gradually builds and then comes the speed.

Control - Generally mid paced, but with quite a few different sections.

It's also on http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=1401467 if anybody uses that.

Thanks for listening.

Heya!

Listening to it as I write this and enjoying it immensly. Unfortunately, I haven't got the time to review it right now (though I know I promised I woud write a review). Maybe in a few weeks. I've been busy trying to get to the studio and finding a drummer and violinist for my own project ( a new one, one that attempts to combine punk rock with prog, insane, I know).

Anyway, good, good stuff. Congrats! We used to be peers, but since I haven't released anything yet, now you are an idol to me. I hope that's OK

Thank you again! Well if you don't have time for a review don't worry that's perfectly ok haha. But of course I wouldn't mind reading a positive one

Yeah I also tried to get a drummer for my stuff, but didn't happen in the end unfortunately. It really isn't easy if you just have studio work to do... anyway, you gotta have to release something then and tell me/us

Got bored with my other project and returned to black and Arcanewind. Here's a new track, enjoy, if You can!

LYRICS:

The Snow Keeps Falling On Our Path
Like tears from heaven's frozen heart

Awake the ethereal
Sharpening the blade
Look for the answers
And then return to the shade

Weakening footsteps on the muddy ground
No higher calling for the Earthbound

Awake the ethereal
Sharpening the blade
Look for the answers
And then return to the shade

Maybe our creed is insanity
Our truth is what we like to hear
Perhaps all we feel is vanity
Except for the reality of fear

Slowly open our mouths in the cold
All this searching is getting old

Awake the ethereal
Sharpening the blade
Look for the answers
And then return to the shade

Maybe our creed is insanity
Our truth is what we like to hear
Perhaps all we feel is vanity
Except for the reality of fear

The human condition
The Truman edition
Inhuman tradition
Ambivalent ambition

Maybe our creed is insanity
Our truth is what we like to hear
Perhaps all we feel is vanity
Except for the reality of fear

Not sure, if anyone visits this thread anymore, but here's my new song:

I really have found the sound I want at this point. A Mike Oldfieldish new age'ish (slightly Floydian I suppose) atmoblack.

Lyrics:

An age of woe
A time of despair
Frozen bodies and cold blue
Ice everywhere

Here they worked
In their own grave
They were born onto The Earth
As slaves

The Sun a stranger
To their darkened eyes
No chance to glance at the horizon
No place for them under the skies

Beneath the lash, upon the stone
With nowhere to run and nowhere to lie
They chose to face the coming storm
They chose their freedom, chose to die

The cold winds of death came
One December day
All their pain and suffering
Was swiftly swepped away

The unrighteous escaped
Fleeing from nature's wrath
But faced their bitter fate
At a dead end path

Slaves no more
The children of the cold
Slaves no more
Buried with silver and gold

Now that was good.
The contrast between metal and the proggy/new-waveish parts kinda reminded me of Maudlin of the Well, except that with atmo black instead of doom.
I hope you stick to those proggy-ish solos on your upcoming stuff.

As always, I simply can't express my gratitude enough simply for the fact that You took the time to listen to the song. The fact that you found it good is enough to make my entire day awesome.

And I will definitely be sticking to the new age / proggy elements. I've found my sound and style and now I aim to improve and perhaps even perfect it.

Not a big fan of black metal, but this I liked. Much better than the song you posted earlier. Clean vocals made me think of some Blind Guardian, harsh vocals a bit Wintersun. There was a lot going on in the song and I enjoyed it. Great atmosphere with the guitars, multi layering of the clean vocals was great idea, although synchronizing could have been better. I could listen to more of that.

Thank You! All this positive feedback really is making my day

Wait a second... are you seriously suggesting that my atmoblack songs are good enough for you to (at least partially because of them) begin aquiring the taste for the genre itself?

If that's what you're saying, then this must be the greatest compliment I have ever received.
