Once a friend of mine let me hear Necrophagist, i think is awsome I like the band a lot but is very difficult to get their albums. Is the kind of Death Metal i love to hear...

The best way to get their stuff is amazon.com or going to one of the band's shows. Definitely an amazing band live.

I dont know if they are active anymore, but I have heard their two albums, nothing special but technical death metal.

They are active, and if I remember correctly, their new CD should be out this year.

it is only my opinion. and I am not the biggest fan of death metal you know, I prefer black metal and other genres as well.

because I have heard too many bands with better sound in this genre, and generally I'm tired of death metal. but don't worry, when the new album is to be released, I will give it a try offcourse

love this band! i believe TJ ^^^^above^^^^ recommended me necrophagist, i think, and now they are one of my favourite bands!

No news yet, but I'm sure they're working on it now, that's the problem with Necrophagist, they never give us enough news. Ah well, i'll stay patient, probably seeing them on the summer slaughter tour canada

It's about time these guys give us news about what's going on with their recordings. I'm going to see them live in two days and i'm hoping they'll play some new material. I don't even know if they're still signed with Relapse, Muhammed said he was personally done with them.

...i haven't heard anything about new material but i hope they do release something soon, we've been waiting alot!! ehm they're now touring with dying fetus in the USA...no dates in mexico

I just wanted to say that both albums (Onset of Putrefaction and Epitaph) are Needed
in any Technical Death Metal Collection.. isn't it obvious ? lol

To me they're probly the best Tech-Death band ever created lol (well of Course Death will stay my favorite ... for personal reasons)

I have listened to their two albums in the last two days and I must say this band has some of the best musicians I've ever heard. I liked "Onset of Putrefaction," but I wasn't blown by it as I was with "Epitaph" - this one is just indescribable... one of those few albums that can really impress me nowadays.

Well I don't think they're that great either. =/ Too much guitar wankery to the point were their songs become boring. But man, can they shred!

Well, they can shred, but they shred beautifully, sometimes it sounds like neoclassical metal, e.g. Malmsteen, especially on "Epitaph." And what do you mean "wankery?" It's not like they play Slayer-like solos, they are really beautiful and complex, but it may depend on one's taste...

Their solos maybe complex but I still find them boring. I don't hear any emotion coming from their songs, not sure if thats the right term. =/ I don't know, thats just me.

I guess I'm hearing differently. The guy is one of the best guitarists this day and age, no doubt. But when I listen to a Necrophagist album, I always end up only going to the middle and then switching to something else.

Well exactly. And their new album is one to look forward to. And I wonder how their new drummer Romain Goulon will perform. He is a good drummer. I watched a few videos with him on Youtube, and he digs stuff.

I've heard people say their riffs are quite boring so i don't have trouble believing you, it just comes down to a matter of taste. To me they're very good, but i have to admit that they aren't my favorite tech. death band anymore and it might be because even though they have great songwriting and what not, their riffs aren't the most creative out there in tech. death even though they're still fucking good, hard to explain. Take Martyr, Gorod, SoP, Psycroptic, etc. for example, riff-wise they're much more "flavoured".

I never understood how this band wasn't just guitar pornography. It's basically Malmsteen worship in terms of leads, and everything else is generic. The "Fermented Offal Discharge" solo just sounds like a sweep exercise most of the time...

Well, I think that song has pretty original solos, and what's most important, they fit into in the song and they are not just sweeping - there is a lot of stuff combined in them, including sweeping, but not limited by it.

...necrophagist is not only guitar...the whole compositiona and music is way more than that...don't think it sounds like malmsteen's exercises...but i've heard this opinion alot, most ppl listen to them a couple of times and say they r boring and all their songs are the same...i think they don't understand the music so that's why they don't appreciate it...that's frequent in this genre

Yeah its true... when i listen to Necrophagist.. i listen to it as a whole.. not only focusing on one little thing. Why being so picky.. its a good Tech-Death band and Muhammed playing like a god only makes it better IMO.

Sorry I don't like something that you do! Its not that it all sounds the same, I don't hear any emotion. It sounds uninspired and it does seem to me that they're just going oh look how good we are!

...it's ok...we clearly don't share opinions but i respect yours...mm now that i come to think about it, u made a comment in spawn of possesion's thread about them being boring too, right?? guess u r not much into technical death metal...anyway i do like necrophagist alot and i'm expecting their new album to release soon...
