I honestly hope he is just very successful at trolling. I find him hilarious with the language he uses in his reviews and stuff, but I also get why no one wants to be roasted by their peers
01. Vesture Dipped In The Blood Of Morning 02. Merging With Sword, Onto Them 03. Made As The Stale Wine Of Wrath 04. VI-XI-VI 05. Receive The World 06. Vulgar Asceticism 07. Noisome Ash Crown 08. Perverse Calculus [vinyl bonus]
The odd thing is that Lurker of Chalice is easily in my top 10 albums but I do not like this band and this album This is maybe too black metal for me. will give it another spin later. I would rate this 5.5-6 now.

Don't count Leviathan out until you've listened to the Silhouette In Splinters album. No black metal here, just awesome and spooky... something or other. Much closer to LoC than anything in the Leviathan discog.

Thank you, I would not give up just based on a few spins. At least, this album will help me to get more into black metal. Also, very tnx for link. Will check out tomorrow. Any other band close to LoC in terms of sound? I mean, ambient+ black metal without typical BM vocals?
This was intended to be a Lurker Of Chalice record and I can see why.
I absolutely hate the vocals. The gargled noise kills everything here. Not to mention the overbearing and lackluster drum work. Sorry Wrest, you missed the nail on this one.
Aside from the ambient parts, I really don't hear much LoC in here. It's just typical (albeit good) black metal.
There's a few points where it almost sounds like LoC, but only a small amount, and not for long. I think a Silhouette In Splinters is probably closer to LoC than this.

Ten Chambers is still his best release in my opinion, I haven't listened to any of his works in awhile though. I should go through them again.
"meh" is never a reaction I have to this album. Receive the World is one of the best black metal songs ever (for me).
I do remember one song with immense ending and absolutely painful feeling, which was great. Maybe that is the one you are talking but the rest of it just does not do much. The vocals are major turn off and I'm so glad he didn't use his typical BM screams on LoC.
But when I extract the files to my music player it says Lurker Of Chalice, and the song titles are totally different... WTF?!
My tracklist:
01. Sacred Scars
02. Seamless Garment As The Morning
03. Last Breath Of Expiation
04. 6116
05. Phosphoros
06. Flagellum Raised To The Sky
07. Sanies Obnuntio
The booklet has Leviathan's logo on it and the songs are properly tagged. Does anyone else have the same issue?
I don't think the problem can be solved that way...
I noticed that the latest version of Foobar2000 sometimes just goes haywire (my program automatically split the CD into tracks, and sometimes not). But just to be sure, you can try
I would say this is Wrest's second best after LoC - LoC. great shit.
If you haven't heard it yet, you should listen to A Silhouette In Splinters. It definitely rivals Massive Conspiracy as my favorite Leviathan album (though it's very hard to choose as they're pretty different stylistically). I still think Receive The World is one of the best black metal songs ever
