The Thing. It's a prequel to John Carpenter's [remake film] ''The Thing'' from 1982, where Kurt Russel kicks ass. As I love Carpenter's version, I think it's one of the best sci-fi horrors theire is, I didn't have high expectations for this one. It's a solid film, it's not boring, but neither exciting. It's quite predictable, but still it has some energy, so it makes it ''an ok film'', no more, no less.

The John Carpenter film is one of my absolute favourite films so I've been avoiding the new prequel, but it seems to have been quite well received by fans (if not so much by critics) so I might give it a go sometime.

Well, I've been kinda biased whether to go see it or not because of all the bad critics it got. If this movie was to be an actual remake of Carpenter's movie I would probably say it is much worse, because yea, to me it is also one of the best films I have ever seen and let's face it, a movie with that kind of greatness cannot be made any greater. I liked it mainly because they didn't go over the top with the CGI effects and also the norwegian guys starring in this movie are cool, because they're so.... not hollywoodish. The only thing I really didn't like was the starship scene in the end, IMHO it would have been better if the last battle was set on icy ground rather than on mega-cool-starship-from-outer-space.
Blod Diamond - good one about Afrika, i thoughtw atch or not but its good I love it an Leo di Caprio I thought hgis films are gay , still I hate gay film gaytanic but ehhh one lame film can ruin actors imadge

Haven't seen it... But the trailer looked kind of meh/awful. Some people tell me it's good though.
Lulz, you can't judge anything on a trailer. Like judging an album on one song. I couldn't tell you what raises Zombieland over other zombie flicks, could be the best use of Bill Murray in the history of cinema, or it could be how badass Woody Harrelson is. I dunno. It's a nifty film though.
Zombieland surprised me. It is actually a decent film. But Shaun of the Dead, and Dead Alive are much better zombie comedies.

Who cares about Titanic? He's also known for Gangs of New York, The Departed, The Aviator, and Inception. I wouldn't say he's considered "gay" by the majority of movie critics and I doubt many people think Titanic ruined his image.

Yeah, he's an awesome actor. He was brilliant in Blood Diamond as well.

Rose McGowan as a crippled go-go girl with a machine-gun leg, a cock melting off a human body due to flesh-eating disease, Fergie's brain being scooped out from the back of her head...?
Huh... this bears a striking resemblance to some porn I like to watch...

I'd like to add What's Eating Gilbert Grape to that list. I never actually liked DiCaprio, but when I saw him in that movie, I realized just how much talented he is - yes, he was that good I even managed to notice him, even though there was gorgeous Mr. Depp in that movie.
Written by eponymous on 07.11.2011 at 17:13 I'm glad you liked it so much. I personally would put it on my B-list of South Korean cinema. Have you seen other Kim Ji-Woon films? I personally couldn't decide between "A Bittersweet Life" and "The Good, the Bad, the Weird". I recommend both, of course, in addition to "A Tale of Two Sisters", which I suppose is somewhat better known, due to the (inevitable...sigh) remake.
Speaking of Pixar and the ilk, I've never understood the love - I find them all unworthy of attention. Childish, sugar-coated, hopelessly feel-good, stereotype-ridden...ugh. No offence to anyone, I'm well aware I'm in the minority on this one. (If it makes anyone feel better, I dislike the Disney stuff even more, hah.)
I haven't seen either of them, but was alerted to them through "I Saw The Devil", so hopefully I'll be watching those movies soon. The only related movie I've seen, is Oldboy, which also had Choi Min-Sik in it.
As for Pixar, (and similar animated movies in general) I just find it great escapism. And really, I'm a fragile, gentle soul, so sometimes I need a break from the horrors and bleakness of reality, and movies like Toy Story are the perfect antidote for that I think. xD

Yeah, Oldboy is probably the best known SK film ever. Which doesn't make too happy. Suffice to say I'm not a fan of Park. I do keep hearing nice things about Bakjwi [Thirst], though. Byung-hun Lee is in both of those I mentioned, by the way.

Somehow I always fail to remember that movie unless I'm discussing Depp. Which is a shame because he did an excellent job portraying a child with a mental disability like he did.
I watched a film called Phase 7 last night. It was alright. Along the same lines as Rec.
Here is the US Trailer.

Re-read my quote above yours. I meant DiCaprio but I can understand why you thought I meant Depp based on the wording.
Watched Tangled. A very good movie. Not the best in the disney line-up, but still hilarious. Starts out a bit slow, but soon picks up speed. Great stuff.
Also watched Tropic Thunder. Another hilarious movie... however it is a tad annoying that the cast seems excluded from the satire. One of the great thing about Matt Stone and Trey Parker is that they rip on themselves as well as other stuff. It's the same even with shows like Arrested Development... it's a great quality. Tropic Thunder is great with it's satire, but if they picked on people like Stiller, Robert Downey Jr and Jack Black as well, it would have been much better. It also thinks it's more intelligent than it is... Still great though.
EDIT
Just watched Tucker and Dale vs Evil. This is one of the most fun films Ive watched in a while. Hilarious and Gory send up of hillbilly horror films, this is brilliant. A group of College kids mistake two innocent hillbillies of being serial killers after one of their friends accidentally kills himself. Great stuff.

Saw Ironclad... it was shitty. I hate historical movies that "change" what really happened just coz it will make it more hollywood. Plus, the love story is pathetic, worst I've seen in a while... lmao in the last scene, coulnd't they make it even more cliché ?
Only thing that made me watch all of it were the cool fighting scenes... though some had the heroic-generic-syndrome, that made it sometimes boring.
I just watched the film "The Devils Double"
Amazing film. I suggest everyone at least check it out. Dominic Cooper did an amazing job.
