Lake Of Tears are one of those strange experimental bands that exist in Metal today, from their doom roots, to a more psychedelic/Gothic present, this band amazes me with each release, each one as different as the other. This time Lake Of Tears offer us their fifth studio album and the most "commercial" to the date.

The colorful art and booklet gives us a hint of what's going inside in the head if these guys, and after a short intro, "Return Of Ravens" comes bursting in with catchy rhythms and a chorus that will stick in your head for weeks, "The Shadowshires" follows the same path than the previous song, adding some electronic elements to the mix, let's notice that Lake of Tears hasn't gone Electronic, they just added some of this elements.

A more paused and melancholic song follows, "Solitude" gives us a glimpse of Lake Of Tears past, I got the same feeling with "Sorcerers" those two songs could be easily included in "Forever Autumn".
Brennare excellent voice is sometimes accompanied by the enchanting female vocals of Jennie Tebler, more noticeable on "Sorcerers", "Leave a Room" and "Nathalie And The Fireflies". "Can Die No More" is another great song that deserves to be mentioned and praised for it's catchiness factor.

The good thing is that Lake Of Tears haven't lost what makes them great, the melancholic aspect in the music, catchy or doomy, each song has an unexplainable sadness vibe, maybe is the vocals of Daniel Brennare, maybe is the angelic female vocals, or maybe is just that Lake Of tears know how to do their job.

A experimental album for Lake Of tears, maybe not all fans of the band will like this, especially the ones that love the first 2 records, but lake Of Tears have moved on, never expect that a band will continue to do the same music for 10 years in a row, quoting Charles Darwin, It's Evolution Baby!
