Do you think there will be a band or a person that will still be active playing death metal (or any extreme metal) in their 60's?

just like dio or ozzy?

or someone already is?

Well with the rate of dieing in black metal a doubt that any will live up to their 60's

Well, I agree with the REAPER... they will hardly reach 60's and if they do, they possibly won't be in conditions of playing

Fenriz. Unless he decides he has nothing left to offer, he could play until he's in his grave. And he could probably still make music while he's buried. [insert pun about underground music here]

All the tech-death guitarists and blastbeat drummers will develop arthritis or carpel tunnel syndrome, and all the growlers and screamers and shriekers and grunters and squealers will lose their voices. Some will die, some will become a rock band and team up with other 60-year-old wash-ups, and the rest won't be good enough to garner interest from labels and distributors to release their music even if they continue to make it.

County Medical Examiners come to mind. i believe one of the members is in his 60s.

Martin van Drunen is 45 I think but I can see him doing death metal in his Sixties.

Cannibal Corpse for sure, they're one of the few extreme metal bands that has the financial backing and a global fan base to be able to do this for a long time. They're one of the few bands out there capable of making money in extreme metal.

Not to say those who don't make much money from it will quit, but there's less of a guarantee based on the fact that careers/putting food on your families table comes first, which can get in the way. Just saying Cannibal Corpse have a greater chance of sticking around for longer based on that fact.

All I know is that I would love to see it happen.

We will see and I dont see why they can, ok they wont run and move so fast, but playing is why not, there 20-30 years left.

Some of the members in Suffocation might be getting a little old atm-not ancient, but if they re-record a track off of Breeding the Spawn on each of the following albums, they will be pretty old by the time they get all of those albums released. But if each of their albums sounds like Blood Oath, I'd rather they just retire now.

I knew a guy from Belgium. Don't know how old he was, but he surely was over 50 back then.
He went to all black/death/grind concerts and was an active tapetrader.

I don't personally know any metalheads that old but I have been to several black and death metal concerts and always see dudes hanging out in the back that look to be 50s and older...
