Fixxxer - Have always dug this song its nice groovy but also a wall of sound with some nice voodoo lyrics
Orion - I'm a bass player what do you want from me
Broken, Beat & Scarred - Just blew me away I expected Death Magnetic to be St. Anger vol 2 but wow this song made me want to run over puppies

The old school thrash era - Disposable Heroes
Later - The Unforgivens and All Nighmare Long

Nope, some riffs (specially the acoustic intro and ending, I read somewhere) are loosely based on music he wrote before dying.
The words were supposedly also his, as his sister found it written by him I don't remember where, but in the end it was an excerpt from a book or something. They found that out a lot later.

Today, after 3 years from my last post here, i would say the best would be "Orion" and "Fade To Black"

Creeping Death takes it for me, though a personal favorite for me is Hit The Lights.

My personal favorite Metallica song would have to be One. I love how melancholic the song is at first, and it builds to a great climax. I don't listen to the band much now, but I always thought that song was awesome.
