Further proof that France do own the world's finest black metal bands.

Spanning black metal and industrial/ambient, Vindsval has created an absolute monolithe in post bm. He began with the title 'Vlad' before changing the name after two demos and creating the much loved 'Ultima Thulee' which really put them on the map. As his career progressed he experimented with industrial and ambient and has carved the now highly stylised and distinctive Blut Aus Nord sound.

So apparently that Godflesh cover is going to be on a reissue of TWWTG (vinyl and digipack) and is available for free.

Anyone has information about Karras band? Apparently, they are a side project of BaN and has only contributed to issociated Human Junction split. They indeed sound very much like blut aus nord

So, it turns out that 100th album of Debemur Morti Productions would be a BaN record related to MoRT. Either MoRT II or reissue of that album. I'm dying of anticipation over MoRT II
EDIT: "this will contain new, exclusive, material"

Dunno if I posted this before but here's an unreleased BaN track. Dunno why he never released it, it's fantastic. Pure dissonance, and great eerie latter part / ending.

Actually not sure I've even heard it before myself.

Kinda "standard" BaN (if that exists), I like the ending (dat guitar tone is what drives me mad with BaN). Think it's something that could be inbetween Odinist and Liber series. (hmmm 2009, it actually is )

I had listened to this one, and am pretty sure that it was posted by you somewhere in the forums. If I remember correctly, there was a discussion between you and Oaken and you posted this, saying that "this is dissonance" or something like that.

It does ring a bell. I must have forgotten about it altogether. Great song though. True, it's predictable in a very "BaN" sort of way, but I'm not bored of the sound yet. It wouldn't have been out of place on the new EP (apart from the production which is far superior on the unreleased track).

Oh God. I've unearthed the BaN albums from the depths of my hard drive. I just hope I don't get sucked into them the way I used to. I used to put those tracks, Level 1 and Procession on repeat and stare at the ceiling for hours.

If you have been absent for a long time, make sure to check Liber II, which is IMO the best thing they've done since TEoAM.

Yeah, I had listened to everything before (and including) Odinist. I really didn't know what to start with. So many releases since 2007. Many confused. Such thanks. Wow.

Yeah that one too. I should burn those three tracks on three separate disks, place them to form a perfect equilateral triangle, place three lit candles in the center of each disk, stand in the middle of the triangle, and see if I don't get sucked into a different dimension, oblivion, the first circle of hell, drown in the styx, or spontaneously combust.
Or all of the above.

By the way, a friend of mine who worked in cinema (and was just as big a fan of BaN as I was) found this a long time ago on Youtube, and I went looking for it just now, was surprised it was still there. I was wondering if you saw it. I think the short movie matches Level 1 perfectly, as if they both had been made for each other. I think you might like it.

Meeeeh. Nah. I mean, it's not bad, but it didn't do as much as TWWTG does. I liked the end of the first track, but the rest is just too noisy.

As a matter of fact I discovered that a few months ago. I think Debemur Mortii posted it on their Facebook page. I agree though, it's absolutely ideal for the music. Great stuff, and nice change from seeing Begotten paired up with every single piece of vaguely dark music ever.

It's really a hard call for me. MoRT is seriously kick ass, and the best representative of band, but liber II has got more replies by me.

Of course WTTWG is their best, but liber II is also very great, and quiet diffrent, too Love the primitive sound.
Also, that video was very cool. For clear reason, it reminds me the videos that Tool had produced (especially, the one for sober). Cheers.

That's the primitive sound that I don't like, exactly. But thanks for the recommendation anyway, it was a good listen.
Oh yeah and, the video, I addressed that to Joe, but everyone needs to see what Jan Svankmajer does.

Begotten is the shit and I fight people for it................ On the internet.

(but yeah, I agree that many bands makign dark music are overusing the movie. Which is ironic since the movie likes any sort of soundtrack and dialogue)
