There has been alot of bands that are thrash and are punk, but what about in between? Or bands that have started out as punk and gone to thrash? Im talking about bands like Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I., Wehrmacht, Cro Mags, Cryptic Slaughter, ect. Most crossover thrash isnt well known, but what do you guys think about this stuff?

I never really got into crossover thrash... I guess I just don't enjoy the style. And as if this thread wasn't made until now. :/

I've got some really cool crossover vinyls like Cryptic Slaughter, DRI, The Accused, Prong, Holocausto... I used to listen to them very often. Now they're in a box in my music room. The only band I never got into was Suicidal Tendencies

No one has mentioned Crumbsuckers yet Or the first Nuclear Assault album, S.O.D., M.O.D., Attitude Adjusment/Attitude, Gang Green, Excel, Brutal Obscenity, Dead Orchestra, Hirax, Lawnmower Deth, Municipal Waste, White Devil, Ratos de Porão, Charley's War, Carnivore, first Type O negative album (more or less) all examples of extremely good crossover thrash as well as cause For Alarm by Agnostic Front. Crossover thrash is actually the very first primal form of Metalcore since it was a crossover of thrash metal with hardcore.

08.12.2011 - 23:07 Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 08.12.2011 at 22:25 I knew you would step in very soon. I never considered the first Nuclear Assault album crossover. Most of these bands I know and of course S.O.D., M.O.D. and Hirax should be here, you're talking about real classics. The Exploited also went crossover. Spazztic Blurr and Mastic scum in a way but they're mostly grindcore. Corrosion Of Confirmity with other influences. Belgians Trenchfoot. I also remember seeing various Dutch and Belgian bands at local concerts but I don't recall their names anymore.

Generally speaking I don't like crossover because the songs are mostly very short and the lyrics are just... Anyways got my hands on Thrash Zone by D.R.I recently and it's a pretty good album. Other than that Wehrmacht is the only crossover band I really liked. I heard there used to be some conflicts at the crossover gigs between metal fans and hardcore fans because those genres have quite different kind of fan bases

Account deleted Written by Koen Smits on 08.12.2011 at 23:07 Well its nice to see some other people who at least know about this stuff. Besides regular thrash, crossover is my favorite. C.O.C. and the Exploited are pretty righteous and Nuclear Assualt does have some punk and thrash elements in their music but probably not as much as other bands. Gang Green definatly awesome as well.

DRI and Nuclear Assault both released some awesome shit for the genre. I've never really gotten into crossover; prefer the more ''vicious thrash'' groups like Demolition Hammer and Solstice. I have come across a rather amusing video by crossover dudes ''In Defense''. Not bad! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iQ0lU_lOyM

02.01.2012 - 14:44 Written by NLthrasher on 02.01.2012 at 02:42 I certainly would since there are quite a few punk hardcore influences in Hirax's sound

02.01.2012 - 18:02 Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 02.01.2012 at 14:44 Yeah but the amount of punk influences is to small if you ask me. You can't compare it to the amount of punk influences that you here on S.O.D. or Municipal Waste albums.

Ok ok, first of, this topic is getting old and it clearly needs some new posts. What about changing this thing a little by posting recent crossover or recommendations that we find. I'll start up with a band that Cynic showed me on Bandcamp they only have a demo but IMO its pretty decent hope they will release a full length soon. So here it is, its called Immolate. Don't know where they're from though http://immolate.bandcamp.com/

Have you guys ever heard Cross Examination? I've got 2 cds by them and they define the term crossover 100% Check out their cds "The Hung Jury" and "Menace II Sobriety" if you can find them, good metal! They tend to mix it up real nice. A little thrash riff here and then right into that crossover, punky sound, back to the thrash riffs. Anyway, I like them. Here's their link https://www.facebook.com/crossexamination

Crossover thrash you mean post hardcore? Letlive and The Chariot are both good post hardcore bands. To me it sounds a lot like punk/thrash. Not a huge fan of the sound though.
