If you're into Weakling you should really enjoy this. Its a little too simmilar to Weakling at times, but they manage to pull it off very well.

Uhhhh so can someone please tell me when Ross Sewage (Exhumed/Ghoul/Impaled) joined this band? I'm confused because on some sites he's a member, and on others he's not.

I think in January just before starting their latest tour. Cause Will Lindsay moved from bass to guitar they wanted a bass player.

Marcel, I've finally listened to Two Hunters. I still think the debut is their best effort but no doubt both albums are awesome.

I still need to listen to more of their material. I've only heard assorted songs from the self-titled demo.

I think I'll buy Black Cascade if I see it at any shows. It comes out soon if I'm not mistaken. Malevolent Grain was kinda weird, but at the same time, pleasing to my ears. This time, I'll do what I haven't done in awhile and just go out on a limb and buy the new one.

I don't know what he's doing right now, but he didn't come on tour with them. They have a dude named Oliver. Met him last night at the show, actually Aaron was the only one I didn't talk to. Just normal stuff though, Merle Haggard, Dudefest and what not.

The setlist was nice, but the sound when they first started was too fuzzy. They tuned up a bit for the next song and the audience recepted it a bit better.

-Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog
-Vastness and Sorrow
-Crystal Ammunition
-I Will Lay Down my Bones Among the Rocks and the Roots

And to think, I took some notes in my phone so I wouldn't forget and now I didn't even need it. That is true AND necro.

Until Dudefest!

my review is here.

short version (if you are lazy) is it's more 90s Norwegian BM than their prior albums, and as a result it's lacking some of the magick in "The Two Hunters" and "Diadem" that appealed to me. It's still a very good release, but they set a pretty high bar with their preceding albums.

Consider that they're songs are vey long (most of them are longer than 10 mins) so I'd tell you to listn to an album. Their masterpiece is considered Two Hunters, but I like a lot Diadem of 12 Stars too. They made an EP and an album this year btw, and i think the EP is better.

Ahh I whacked off to all 4 tracks.. especially Ahrimanic Trance.

Anyway I think WitTR are the best USBM band you can find right now. Although I haven't heard their early demo yet, I think all 3 releases (Diadem of 12 Stars, 2 Hunters and also Black Cascade) will get 9/10 or 10/10 from me.

Haha, raising the dead a bit today eh Samrit?

Found I had some early impressions to this band on the page prior to this one... I can never resist when tempted to comment about these guys now. They're decent to good in their musical ability but, the band is a crock. It's one thing to advocate a message and do nothing (as with most bands) but, it's another to do and/or have an opposite history of what one advocates which, is what WItTR have done. Primarily their "ecofeminism" which is a lot of bullshit, having lived in the town of Olympia, WA and from what the locals there have said about some of the members, it's a very different picture than what WItTR claim to represent.

I imagine I've said it else where but, it could have been on a different board.

A lot of people started to talk shit about Wolve's when they first started getting some notoriety because, the members were in other bands that were trendy at the time, mostly punk bands and the such ie: they're some what trendy guys - Olympia is VERY much stuck in the late 80's to early 90's, which I suspect is due to the grunge area and Kurt Cobain growing up in Aberdeen (which is maybe 30min to 45min away from Olympia) and, that Kurt lived in Oly for a while, I lived in his old pad for a couple years but that's a different story.

At least one or two of the original members in Wolve's own a small venue in Olympia, which has been shut down by the city at least twice due to safety hazardous but that's not the main point at hand. A few months before I moved out of WA I was in a local music store that's been owned by some middle aged dude for several years, we started talking about some of the local venues and of course the subject came up about how the one venue had been shut down a couple times (keep in mind the above), and he said there was an incident a few years ago about the OWNER of that venue having exposed himself to a teenage girl during a show one night. That being said, Wolve's>own said venue>owner exposing himself - Wolve's claim to be ecofeminist and all this other hippy stuff (the town itself is very hippy, so I'm sure they jumped on that bandwagon too, in order to fit in).
The other thing that makes me doubt their ecofeminist bs is some thing my ex band mate showed me. Him and his gf at the time were big into porn, and they had rented a film which I very unfortunately forgot the damn title of because, I'd like to point out the title to prove this to others but, the back of the movie case blatantly listed WItTR as having their music featured for this porn movie, and it was no artistic adult film either. After he showed me that film case, I decided to boycott the band, not because their music was featured in a porn film but, because I felt they were just a bunch of phonies.

Wolves' music as the soundtrack to a porn movie? When I woke up this morning, I did not expect to hear that. Still, such a thing (which - I'm sorry - I find very hard to believe) + a rumour is not enough to discredit a band imo.

If I will check the history of every band that I like I will mostly stop listening to most of them
a couple of days ago I discovered the fact that they are ecofeminists and i don't give a crap whether they are
honest about it or not as long as they still make good music "which they do"
as a Black metal band they are definitely among the best that I have ever heard

Yea, Xasthur, Wrest's projects, WitTR, Weakling, and Judas Iscariot are some of the better USBM bands around. I gotta admit I don't pay much attention to my own countries scene but the above and the bands that others have mentioned are all quality stuff.
