Lucky! Well, she hates the Metal since my dad started listening Sabbath stuff and she doesn't want his kids to exploit like his dad is( now mainly into Machine Head, Behemoth and Sybreed stuff) so she can throw my crap at anytime. It's not that every day is fucking danger out for me that she gonna come and throw my stuff....its just that if she loses her head

My mom just goes with the logic "It's not drugs or anything really dangerous so fuck it".

She absolutely denies to buy me any cds from b-days or xmas, because she says that they have no value anymore considering my collection

Dude, if it would have been Pop/Classical/ Soft Rock/ Rock she wouldn't give the fuck about my collection but its fucking Metal and that's the little "expired-capsule" tripping in her mind.

Aha, storage! The one thing that's always comming back! Almost all my CD's, LP's, Tapes, Zines...are stored in cardboard boxes.
Some of them are in a closet, others in my bedroom, in another bedroom, at the attic...
I've got some cd's in my cars, like 350 in a closet in my living room...sometimes in alphabetical order.
I really need to think of a solution for my stuff, it's so bad that I haven't got a real overview of my collection. hundreds of cd's are in "Chiquita" boxes and haven't been open for the past 8 or 9 years.

My mom always buys me CDs/Shirts.

She gave me a Slayer shirt with some inverted crosses, for Christmas. She absoloutly hates the genre, but respects my choice I guess.

Hahahahaha I guess I should be honored. I'm happy to have a mom like the one I have.Just a few weeks ago she gave my a flyer of a festival I totally didn't knew it was happening in my town so I could go there if I was interested

I keep mine in a closet in my office after I rip them to my hard drive. mp3 format is much more convenient and they don't get scratched

I had this hand-made wooden rack w/c can store 1,000+, but still not enough ...:beer:

My mom used to hate metal a lot a year back because she thought it was "satanic" music. Right now, after I've made her listen to a lot of awesome stuff, she changed her mind. She says that the instrumentation in metal is very skillful and good-sounding, but the screaming and growling ruin the music.

I keep mine in a locked closet that is right next to my bed. If anybody wishes to break into that closet in the dead of night, then they must get passed me first. That may prove difficult, because I hardly ever sleep. So my CD collection is quite safe.

I used to have a shelf for mine, then I got moved to a smaller room. Now they're in a box in my closet, which is getting full and is annoying as fuck to look through... Pretty much all my music is on my computer now anyways.

About a month ago, I met this guy who keeps his CD's in a carrying case which he always keeps in his bag so he can take it out and show people anytime.

That was my dad except he still thinks metal is satanic... but it's been 8 years and my taste in music has only gotten more extreme so he's grown to accept it and gave up on trying to change me My mom is a little more open-minded and actually insisted on having me show her some metal. She knows it's good but just not her thing, though some of the symphonic stuff with no growling appeals to her. And she says she'd be open to going to a metal concert with me sometime lol

When I made her listen to some solos off Rust In Peace, she said the guitarist was really skilled. As for concerts, she would never, ever send me into one. The moshing, the drinking, the craze... She says it's not our thing, and I have to agree with her...

Haha, I'd die of laughter if my mother got drunk at a metal show and went in the pit (The fact that she's like 4'10", 100-110 lbs, and probably one of the most prissy people I know makes it even funnier.) Hell, even I don't do that... We'd probably just stand back a little and only listen to the music. I only get up front and brave the crowd if it's a band I really love.

I'm currently on the lookout for an antique chest or something similar, where I'll probably build a custom layout for the inside to store the CD's.

My mum doesn't mind a bit of Nightwish as well, she is also a fan of some Dream Theater - which is nice.

I made a big clean-up to my collection so there is enough space now. I usually store my CDs in boxes or shelfs.

I have two cases at the moment that holds all of my CD's in alphabetical order by band name. If i have more than one album by a specific band, I arrange those in order of release date.

Same here... It gets a bit harder for me everytime to arrange them once I get I new cd. I fear that once I hit 1000 I'll just won't care anymore hahahaha.

I need to get my ass some shelfs. My CD stand works fine, but it's really hard to put cassettes and vinyls in it.

for vinyl go to Ikea and buy an Expedit.
As you can see here, it's extremely handy for vinyl.

That's why keep spare room on each shelf. I have several shelves on the wall, that is. I try not to pack them full, so I can just slip new CDs in between. When I have to move them, it's just a matter of grabbinga few from the end of each shelf and shoving them to the start of the next. Running out of room in about 30 CDs, though.

Not a bad idea I must say.... Well, atm I'm okay since now I have quite some space because I store a lot of cds in boxes under my bed. I have another cd shelf but I have it in my garage because I don't have space to put it in my room so once I move out I'll gety all of a sudden a lot of more place to put my cds again ahahhahaha.

A part of me enjoys taking the time to re-arrange them. I'm weird.

I really need something like what Marcel posted but in cd version. Those cd shelfs with the little spaces to put each cd can be hella dull and pain in the ass.

Well I don't have that much of a problem since I take everything inside the jewel case before getting rid of it, which saves alot of space. Then, its Binder organisation not too hard to handle

I agree with BC. Why would you want to get rid of the case?
That's like... trying to get the chocolate off a muskateer bar to eat the filling only.
