Once again from the so underrated US metal scène:

-CRESCENT SHIELD:
This is a band with former members of Onward, Synergy, New Eden, Destiny's End,... They will release their very first album very soon. Check them at:

www.crescentshield.com
www.myspace.com/crescentshield

-OUTWORLD
We talked about this band in the US metal thread before. They will finally release their first album very soon. Kelly Carpenter (ex Beyond Twilight) used to sing in this band.

One noticeable thing about Outworld is that the guitarist is no less than Rusty Cooley. Shredders know the name!

Both will be released in about two weeks I think. I suppose both can be ordered in your local music shop... Crescent Shield signed at "cruz del sur" so for sure that can't be a problem

-John Petrucci, Dream Theater about Outworld's debut:

"Thick guitar tones, unbelievable playing and aggressive metal/prog/melodic tunes. That's the best way for me to describe Outworld's latest release. Being a huge fan of Rusty, this is definitely his best to date. The guitar playing is intricate, creative and beyond comprehension at times while at the same time incorporating unique and interesting phrasing. In fact, all of the players really shine on this CD. The thing that stands out the most however, is the maturity of the song structures. Really cool riffs, melodic hooks and a great mix have made this one of my favorite releases this year."

Indeed, Cresent is great too, sounds like Old Iced Earth. Their album is pretty good...

That's funny because Replica sent to me Outworld last week...

This is simply AMAZING... for me, it's the best Progressive album of the year... no doubt...

A review will come soon (and btw, this is Kelly Carpenter who sings on this album, even if he not with the band anymore...)

@Hellish Star: That's really funny to find you every time that I want to open a thread about one of the bands that I like...

We will have to meet each other to have a drink and talk about music one day... Obviously, we have the same musical (good ) tastes !

@ Jeff: indeed an amazing album. Once again a pity most of the forum members wiil not get their hands to it...

Kelly Carpenter did an amazing job, as he did with Beyond Twilight as well. If you have the chance to order the demo fro Outworld you should do it. It's a fantastic demo. The song "Grey tides" is calling on this demo "Concentration camp" and it's about world war II. There are amazing samples on this song at the demo (Speeches of Hitler, shouting German crowds) which make this so so dark, so special. I'm no fascist at all but it brought a very special atmosphere in this song. It's a pity they changed the concept of this song but I understand why they did it.

We should meet, that's a fact.... and yes, we have similar (awesome) tastes and we like metal most of the forum members even never heard of before.... and that's a pity (for them)

Ok I just did it, I ordered both these albums you old geezers are hailing, after listening to some samples from both. That Crescent Shield seems very promising, old school too the bone (I've listened to the track called "Rise of the Red Crescent Moon"). Should arrive around Cristmas I hope.

Offtopic: since you are talking about meeting why not organize a get together at Keep It True next year?

@Rico: I just hate you, why are you always first? It's not fair, not at all. Eden's Fall, rings any bells? If you don't have their "Harmony of Lies" album, get it. It's a killer.

@venom: it's not the first KIT so,...

I have Eden's Fall since a few months and it's indeed a very good album of US power/thrash. Try TAUNTED as well, is a similar style...

I received the demo today.... Although I knew the demo its a pleasure to hear it again. At this demo there's the song "Concentration camp" which is changed for the album in "Grey tide" because of the fact there are speeches of Hitler in this song which were awesome to hear.... Not that I'm a fascist, not that Outworld are fascists but in the song it was an outstanding sample...

For me its Outworld....

This is what Jeff Loomis (Nevermore) said about Outworld's debut:
"After listening to the Outworld CD, I was blown away by the killer songwriting and musicianship of this great band. There are tons of hooks and catchy choruses that will make this driving force of excellent musicians something to watch out for in 2007!"

Outworld is stunning! It reminds me of old Fates Warning, with a flavour of Symphony X. And Rusty Cooley's solo album was mesmerising, but this is even a notch higher. Simply amazing..
I'm loooking for Crescent Shield if all those who have great tastes said that it's good. Anything that resembles Iced Earth's best period (Stormrider in particular, IE and Burnt secondly) is more than welcome.
Cheers to US metal!!
