After 4 albums, 25 years of Australian metal, Mat Maurer of Mortal Sin has decided that he is calling it a day.
This is a huge shock to a lot of us down here. The last few years have been huge for them. With there last 2 albums, An Absence Of Faith and the latest Pschology Of Death, both fantastic albums, just coming off the Thash Classic's tour with Exodus, Destruction, Heathen & Sepultura you would think this couldnt be better.
I have been doing heaps of promo work for the guys, and was realy looking forward to the tour in a months time.
Verry sad for the aussie Metal scene.

This was his brief, but to the point statement:

This is an official announcement from Mat Maurer. I have decided to leave the band for personal reasons, & irreconcilable differences. Last year was an incredibly difficult year for me personally & I have decided to put my family first. Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years. Over & out. Mat

As i hear anything else, i will post it here.
I know the guys have already started working on new material, lets just hope that it gets the chance to see the light of day.

Saw them last December on the Thrash Classic's tour, and he surely is/was a good vocalist and frontman.

So did I, and as an old school Thrasher (and living in the US) it was a pure delight to see them perform live.
Just hope they continue and find a suitable replacement.
Sad news nevertheless

Ok, then we can discuss Mortal Sin here.
Not the best thrash band out there but not bad at all.
I go with Mayhemic Destruction, An Abscence Of Faith and Psychology Of Death.
I don't like Face Of Despair that much. It has one of their best songs on it (I am Immortal) but the album as a whole isn't that good. I lost my interest before the release of Face of Despair though. Around that time there were classics from Slayer, Metallica, Sodom, Sepultura, Kreator...
I'm glad their 2011 release renewed my interest otherwise I had never seen them live.
