I don't think people forget what he was in for. Just that, as Nejde said, he paid his dues and now he is just ridiculous. Luckily he doesn't have any kind of platform these days.
Burzum is largely irrelevant today. Varg has become a parody of himself and even nazis don't take him seriously. I still won't give him any money but at least he's such a sorry fuck that he can't really hurt any1 or cause damage

Now before you all think, "Oh god, not another melodeath fan who thinks that every new melodeath record is the greatest one there ever was and will be... much like the city of Qarth" I ask that you all hear me out as I truly believe that this album is exceptional and enough time has passed that, if I once was, I am no longer caught up in the hype that typically follows the release of every melodeath album.
I've been listening to Omnium Gatherum for a while and I like their stuff. Surely there's enough energy in their music to keep you going and the band seem to know what they're doing with their music, but let's face it; they're missing something, besides originality of course.
Beyond follows the same formula as New World Shadows and it certainly seems compelling for the ears, but terrible for the brain. The inconsistency is far too great for the musicianship or the performance to maintain a proper balance. The album has some decent moments and the catchy melodies are brilliant and dynamic but in the end, they all sound bland and uninspiring. What you're left with is a bunch of good songs with little to offer and a couple of fillers by the time you reach the hour mark. Even the bonus track "Subdivisions" comes out as a song that's a little hard to digest, although it could've made Rush proud.
First impression: It's way to slow.. New World Shadows was better, this didn't amaze me at all.. I'll give it some other chances, I hope it'll grow on me
I've listened to it twice so far and while there are some great songs on the album, I find it a bit boring. I'm hoping that'll change after another listen or 2. I wont rate it yet.
what review score? The album hasn't been reviewed here yet
Sometimes the score goes out before the actual review gets published. I've come across a similar occurrence before in a Finnish metal webzine/community.

I am 100% sure not a single staff member has written a review on it yet.

I guess there's a mix-up then, I will notify the band.
How is this even possible? I gave their previous album a perfect 10 because, despite it's "simpleness" that many people bash this band for, I really, REALLY dig the atmosphere of that album. It was my first encouter with this band, and I never expected that they'd be able to top that album with this new one! I went to bed to read a bit and put this album in the CD player. I couldn't focus on my book, because the music kept sucking me in... I was blown away.
If I could, I'd give this masterpiece a 12. But I can't. So they'll have to make do with another perfect 10.

Nightwalkers is one hell of an awesome track!
I feel the same man! I just started listening to World Shadows a month or so ago, and then suddenly this came out and blew me away. I can see some people not liking the genre or the style of the songs but for me it's just perfect. Beyond is really special, and the best album by the band as far as I can tell. Glad you're enjoying it!
I feel silly for keeping my 10 rating, but it's just one of those albums to me. Somehow brings me to tears from the first track to the last. <3 <3 Easily the best damn thing I've heard in years... ;;
Why every good album needs to be voted down just because the fanboys of another can't stand it? This album stood at 9 when last time I checked it with like a 120 votes. The same happens every year with top quality albums (need to note that mostly with melodic death albums...). Uptight music will always be preferred to downright music, doom fans. This is so childish.
What a band! I think NWS was slightly better, but then I've only listened through Beyond fully once so I'm sure there are some growers among the ten songs. The Unknowing is such quality...another perfect 10 imo :/
I'm struggling to see the awe-inspiring aura of this album. Too same-y, ala New World Shadows, which I found superior in almost every conceivable way. Having said that, still a pretty good album. Nightwalkers and Formidable kick ass.

It's not always about the fanboys voting down ... surely the band's fans will rush to vote but not everyone is that excited , so when other people hear it and feel "meh" it gets lots of 6 and 7 ratings . not to mention this one is overrated as fuck already .
be'lakor you want to tell that they are overrated here??
Be'lakor are the single most overrated melodeath band here on MS, now talk about stale and trite. Even Omnium Gatherum is less stale and trite than those Aussies.
