From Viking-tinged black metal band to progressive super-heavyweights, Enslaved have constantly evolved with each release. RIITIIR continues the path of progression as it tackles the near-impossible task of following on from their 2010 masterpiece.

I do not know why. But I was afraid That this album ... what blasphemy ... it will teach me not to doubt Enslaved ... Great Album, all are good. Memories Of Storm alone is boring.

I discovered them yesterday because of this album. I didn't listen to it from start to finish but from what I've heard so far, it's a really good album. I'm definitely going to check out their catalog.

I didn't like the use of clean vocals on this one too much overall. For example, I feel good songs like "Death" and "Roots" were ruined by some bland vocal melodies on the choruses. Like it would be the same (or better) if they were screamed/growled.
There are some really good moments but I think this is far from their best effort. The songs I liked the most were the two ones they used to tease the album.

The clean vocals are the reason that I liked theses songs btw, these are the best songs in the album.

Others to mention: RIITIIR and the two they released before (even though I thought that they were pretty average). The rest is just... I don't know, can't feel the magic.

Is anyone else noticing the similarities to Mastodon here? Not just in the proggy nature of the songs that remind one of Crack the Skye and The Hunter but also similar guitar tones in places.

This album hasn't really impressed me the way "Axioma Ethica Odini" did. It's a decent album but it is just a little too proggy for my taste and the black metal elements are a little too soft for my taste.

I think this album has a lot more similarities with Opeth more than anything.

Heritage was a piece of shit album. If Enslaved pulled an Opeth which they likely have, not good. I'll have to listen before knowing that though xD

I'm with you on your first point for sure. Axioma Ethica Odini also impressed me much more than this. Also agree with you on the similarities to Opeth - I noticed that too, but also Mastodon.

My view is that no way have Enslaved pulled an Opeth (Heritage) here. This is still a very good Enslaved album. Give it a listen and make up your own mind, though.

"Roots Of The Mountain" sounds like a Mastodon title.

If only the black metal components of this band were death in its place, their albums would probably number among my favourites...such a shame that I cannot value the genre, it poses such a limitation.

This is the first album i listen to the band...
This is the open door to the other albuns! This one is amazing! Is really my kind of music...some of the songs are really intense...and that voice is creepy, i love the singing parts and the instruments are well coordinated, very catchy and....deep! This is an deep album... \m/
