Have you heard this yet, Joe? Because I have a feeling you're going to be disappointed, since you didn't like Verwustung...

This is more or less the same thing. That sort of "pretentious" atmospheric black-influenced shoegaze/drone type of stuff. Not sure what these guys' back catalog sounds like but it's definitely not the experimental/avant-garde stuff you usually go for nor is it a typical drone record (from what I understand of the genre).

Not even good Verwustung worship if you ask me. :/

I wasn't even aware Joe liked this kind of stuff nowdays.

Not sure if he's ever liked that style of music. That's why I pointed it out... because I'm pretty sure he was the one who nominated their release last year for the Awards, so I'm assuming the difference in style is significant.

...Oh. Oh crap, I totally missed the band's name (probably because of the album title). Yeah you are right, he did nominate them.

Their debut was decent, the follow-up slightly less so, haven't heard this one yet. Overall, to me, it's the kind of band that I can praise for trying something (more-or-less) new, but can't really say they're too successful in their experiment.

I'll check this one out for sure, though.

I found their debut one of the most interesting albums in this whole "blackgaze" movement. The prodctuion wasn't BM-crappy, it was warm and fuzzy. The synths added nice dream pop touch that's missing from most of their tremolo-picking contemporaries. Their second album wasn't bad either, but it wasn't as catchy.

As it happens I quite liked their debut. It's in-between that and this that I've fallen out of favour with the genre so I probably won't think too highly of this unless they've mixed in breakcore or noise or something.

This is cool. Really dark atmosphere, lots of synth.
