Hey guys,

Looking to start up my Dark Ambient/Black Metal (because there isn't enough of them already ) but the only problem for my is my inexperience in acquiring natural records (made by myself).

I've been looking around and a Shure SM57 looks great and has a cheap price for a microphone (and apparently is the 'industry-standard'). I'm just wondering what experiences people have when recording natural sounds, the equipment you use and if you just use the raw recordings when it comes to making the actual music. The more in-depth the better!
