I assume I am not the only one on MS who is into these closely related, often indistinguishable styles of music and I can't see any topic dedicated to these yet so here we go...

Lately I've been listening to tons of screamo but overall I still don't know as many bands that I'd like to know so I appreciate any recommendations.

Some bands I am into:

Saetia

Notres Langues Nous Trompent
An Open Letter

City of Caterpillar

A Little Change Could Go A Long Way
Minute Hour Day Week Month Year (The Faiths In My Chest)

Pianos Become The Teeth

Cripples Can't Shiver
I'll Be Damned

La Dispute (thanks Troy)

Edward Benz, 27 Times
King Park
The Last Lost Continent

Barrow

The Undertow
Where I Was

Circle Takes The Square and Envy are on my list to check out more in-depth, both are really good from what I heard from them so far.

Let this be the thread to list and "disquss" favourite bands, ask for recommendations, post new releases, etc.

Last year is quickly becoming a hazy memory. So while we still can, let's recommend our favorite albums of 2013 in these genres!

I must say Have Mercy's The Earth Pushed Back takes the cake for me. Very melodic emo revival band with an excellent vocalist and rich songwriting. All in all, the album ticks every box I expect it to.

The runner-up is Highness, with Hold. Members from Christie Front Drive, Pg. 99, City of Caterpillar etc. Solid 90s/early 00s throwback, with not quite as much personality or diverse songwriting as the above guys. But when they nail it, they nail it.

From the screamo camp, Caravels and Barrow both delivered strong albums. Defeater and Touché Amoré are probably the biggest releases, and sure they're good, but I don't think they're quite up there.

Just found this. It's pretty nice.

Kind of an electronic screamo/metalcore.

I listen to a lot of post-hardcore/emo stuff nowadays, and something I've always liked from the start is Frameworks.

This 7" is 11 minutes of pure music perfection to my ears. What do you all think?

A little too "punky" and "childish" for me. Don't get me wrong I like post-hardcore, but it has to be a bit more serious, like AVL and Hands.

I love emo/post-hardcore/screamo stuff. At the Drive-In are like my favorite band ever. I've seen a lot of post-hardcore and screamo on this thread but not enough emo, I can help with that.

American Football is great, found them through a Moose Blood song.

Yea, here's another. Probably one of the best post-hardcore bands ever.

How are these genres doing nowadays? Not a fan at all, just curious as they've seemed to have completely fallen out of the public eye lately..

It's funny you asked. There's been an "Emo Revival" of sorts lately.

Keep in mind, Emo is NOT Bring Me The Horizon or Parkway Drive etc.

Too many bands IMO. They are all over the place. There has been a post hardcore uprising - more so than I can ever remember. The one that I kinda dig right now
is the new Architects release.
