Post black metal can be quite a tough thing for newbies. Depending on your usual taste in music and your not-so-life-long experience it may either resemble Dimmu Borgir or Burzum. Apparently I'm not talking about the French but rather the German scene here, for in France they indeed developed a more independent style. Agrypnie then again is one of the shining acts in Germany and - surprise - the reason I'm writing this. For a new album called Aetas Cineris (translates to Era Of Ashes) is out and worth losing some words about.

Seeing it will have songs from Asche I'm almost sure I'll love it

Not sure if I like this. I listened to a few songs. I don't think their is any "post" in this at all...sounds more melodic.

IMO this album is still good, but not as good. Their previous works were full of power and diversity (especially 16[485]). Now I think the power is still there, but they've run out of new ideas, well-known from previous albums. I wanted to be surprised, but I wasn't. Anyway, that's not bad at all.

This is good, but not fantastic. The vocals get kind of annoying after a short time, and the riffing is pretty weak at parts.

Give it a few more spins Paz. This may take a while to soak in

I'll try, but can't promise that my opinion will change. Damn monotonous vocal style combined with very similar ideas in each tracks evokes in me a feeling of boredom If the whole shit was sealed in 45 minutes I wouldn't complained.

no matter what the genre is it. just let this kinda pure music guides you to where it wants and be sink in its flowing atmosphere of melody and riffs
have fun:)

I agree with Pazdzioch, this album is quite too repetitive to be that long. Still I find it a good piece of Post/Melodic Black Metal, rating 6 is a bit low. If it would be shorter (like Pazdzioch said, something around 45 minutes long will be great) I would rate it 9.

I think 6 is a fair rating, especially when compared their previous albums. If you haven't listened yet, check it out. You'll change your mind, for sure. I recommend especially 16 [485] - can't be bored here.

Fact is this album is uber-bloated and generic, there are far better meloblack albums this year. This album is just plain boring and completely lacking in ideas or variation for something so long.

It's nice while you're listening to it, but I can't remember a single song, or riff for that matter, even though I've listened to it for 5-6 times. Tried so hard to love this album, but it is pretty disappointing after all.
