This album definitely sounds epic and lyrically it delves deep but... It lacks that magical "something" that would turn it from a good album to the masterpiece, in my opinion.

Excellent album, and another one to add to the collection for me. Although it doesn't quite reach those lofty heights that "Empiricism" achieved (for me personally anyway), there is still plenty to enjoy here. There seems to be an even more progressive style in some songs, such as the keyboard-led 'Quintessence', 'Traveller' and 'The weight of mind'. I personally thought the clean vocals were weak on some tracks, but they do the job just fine elsewhere, and the more extreme side of the band is still there for those who crave the band's earlier material.
