So...how exactly this works? band puts something on their soundcloud profile and then we can see it in their MS profile and also link it in our posts via forum tags?

Absolutely not. You see the link named Share/Embed. if you click on it, it will give you the code to integrate a small player on any website. Other music forums allow the integration of the Bandcamp player on their sites already.
