I saw this good question in one of my metal magazines, "What record do you put on if you are trying to sleep?".
My own would be Nortt's Galgenfrist or Dark Sanctuary's Exaudi Vocem Meam (Part I) . I also like Storm Corrosion's debut album.

What record do you put on?

Any Doom or Black Metal album suits me. Last night was When Woods Make Graves, the night before was Ahab's The Divinity of Oceans. Lovely.

Listening to anything by Unholy would be perfect especially their more psychedelic albums.

Any drone, noise, ambient or psychedelic music works well.

Nothing, I cant sleep when metal is on

Surprisingly...anything, i have no problem falling asleep while listening to stuff like krisiun or suffocation, they kinda relax me

I like to listen anykind of music when I'm about to sleep but then I turn it off.

Any record from Ahab.

With enough Zzzquil, any record can be a relaxing record.
Sleep is helpful, too. The band I mean.

Shadows of the Sun by Ulver is a soothing album to listen to while sleeping.

Not sure. Been listening to music countless times while in bed then eventually I've just naturally fallen asleep. If I was to choose one album in particular to help me in that mission, then it would probably have to be a self-burnt compilation or playlist consisting of only power ballads, acoustic ballads, piano ballads, etc.

pretty much whatever i'm listening to if i'm sleepy enough. and no, nothing magically makes me sleep.

Anything from my collection, I always put a cd before going to sleep. Good thing I always remember the song where a fell asleep so I can resume from there the next day
For some reason, the only record I have problems sleeping to is Orphaned Land's "Mabool", tried it three times and ended up listening to it almost entirely every time.

I'm always trying different metal and neofolk albums to put me to sleep, here are a few that did work:

I do listen to everything I listen to in general. I can listen to everything from Dimmu Borgir to Kalmah. But what I am preferably listening to while I'm sleeping, is Insomnium and Alcest. Some postrock bands like Explosions In The Sky is also great at nights

Well when I want to sleep I most definitely put some Sludge, Doom, Stoner even some proggy metal.. or anything crossed between those 4 sub-genres... since it happens all the fucking time

Nils Frahm - Felt
- Not metal, but I imagine it would be a great album to fall asleep to. Its sort of like noise, ambient, somewhat jazzy and experimental in that the note choice is not that traditional, and its mostly acoustic piano.

Maudlin of the Well - any album
- pretty dream like avante garde, doom-ish metal.

I fell asleep once listening to King Of The Grey Islands. I was sick at the time, though.

Try Year of no Light: Ausserwelt - awsome, calming stuff with a bit of melancholy.

Mostly Atmospheric black stuff, Anathema, or any folkish/ambient stuff...

Alcest. That shit's so boring it puts me to sleep in a heartbeat.

Alcest's Les voyages de l'âme. Whenever I listen to that album I feel completely at peace which makes it great for going to sleep, I can just lay there and clear my mind.

Anything from Om is amazing to drift off too...

But in all honesty I prefere psychedelic ambient for sleeping music...
