Listened to a Hercules album (the new one). Wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Definitly needs a better singer, though. Parts of it made me think of a lower grade Isengarde playing power metal.
I literally have my own private access to a surf break so I would never get anything done working from home, in fact I had the dy off the other day to do some renovation and spent half of the day surfing

Additional info Supposedly limited to 777 hand-numbered copies on Southern Lord though there are actually more than this. Numerous copies numbered '777/777' have appeared on eBay.
2xLP version with exclusive bonus track called "Wail" released by Southern Lord. Numerous different colored presses exist.
Lurker Of Chalice, a name that should ring a bell for the Black metallers out there. Two completely unavailable demos, one hard-to-get full-length. A full-length that cost many Black metaller a dear buck until it was finally re-released by Southern Lord. In my opinion, Lurker Of Chalice's self-titled, début and at the same time also final album was one of the few albums on e-bay that actually deserved to be sold for more than thirty quid/bucks???. Why? Let me tell you why.
Once in the bluest of blue moons, an album comes along that not only reminds one of the reasons why they love music, but gives reasons never before imagined. Rarely - if ever before - have inspiration and craftsmanship, atmosphere and songwriting combined as well as they do on Lurker Of Chalice.
Too much of a fanboy? Probably...
Yet I still feel the obligation to remind our users that one of the modern classics of black metal has just turned a decade old.
It remains as unique and soul-draining as the very day it was released.
No happiness, no sadness, no fear, no hope... Pure emptiness.
We aren't surprised because it comes from you. Also, I would LOVE to hear more of this standard ambient black metal because there's absolutely nothing standard about it. No offence (as I like his other works) but the fact that you prefer The Tenth Sub Level Of Suicide over Massive Conspiracy Against All Life is enough proof that the ones listening to standard ambient black metal isn't us.
It's probably because I listen to so much ambient by itself, that I find this just to be lackluster. Plus, I can't stress how much I hate the vocals. TTSLOS just feels so much more interesting and intriguing. idk, I'm just weird I guess.

I don't really get this one considering some of the people around here also listen to loads of ambient but sure, we'll leave it at that. I personally haven't heard a combination like this anywhere at all.

As Rod says listening to "x" amount of ambient is totally irrelevant because LoC isn't really ambient in any strong form, much like it isn't really black metal in any overt kind of way. Calling it "ambient black" is more of a convenience thing but when it comes down to it it doesn't really conform much to either (hence why people having trouble finding comparative bands). Even the typical concept of "ambient black metal" (like Velvet Cacoon etc.) doesn't fit the sound of LoC.

Perhaps "standard" was not a good describing word.
Regardless, like I said to rod, this doesn't click with me, but maybe I don't "get" it or whatever, it's just not that interesting to me. Perhaps I should listen once more.
Yeah the vocals are great. I think Wrest clearly has naturally rubbish vocals and he's done everything possible to disguise them here and made them as subtle and nuanced as can be by using various effects which work well in a clear, understated but quite unique manner.
This Blood Falls As Mortal Part III gets me every time. Excellent album that really takes off with Minions and never loses its engrossing quality after that, in my opinion. That's not to say that the first few tracks are merely average-- they are very great. For some odd reason, I feel there's a gap between the first three tracks and the rest of the album, and I tend to skip the first few tracks as a result. Other than that, I can't really find many discernible flaws.
Not enough. 10 or fuck off.
Nah, I'm glad to hear that, hopefully next time it will hit you like a massive dildo to the face and you'll be like "woah man, this is perfect".... and then you'll give it a 10.... bitch.

Doubt it, Don't generally give 10's. It'll probably stay at the eight for awhile.
Absolutely amazing, I never felt like this in my entire life. I gave this in the beginning an 8 but after listening seriously the whole album I regretted it and decided to give it the score it really deserves.

The crows... The Omen quote in the background... And that unsettling female voice. Those three moments will forever stay in my memory as some of the best uses of samples in music... Of any kind.
What a memorable album. Will take it to the grave.

Definitely. This album totally deserves a 10 year anniversary staff pick next year.
I can't tell how much I enjoyed this album, everything is great about this album. I had heard only one song out of it which was This Blood Falls As Mortal, but now I listened to the whole album which was truly great.
