Intro | New | Edge.. The playlists are just insane for music discovery. Just click on the two arrows on the right of a genre's name to access the details page of that genre and the playlists links.
Did you guys ever hear of everynoise ? A former SPotify employee built a whole website based on genres added to artists. One can navigate all genres, see the related genres, and the best is there are a few playlists for each genre
You know the drill. Here's some rather fine sounding Cthulhu driven death metal that's not due for release until 2013, with extraordinarily beautiful cover artwork (check out the detail in the full image):
Some interesting grindcore. They classify themselves as goregrind but I wouldn't call them that. Rather melodic (for the genre at least) and kickass vocals

Damn, nice find. Yea, definitely not what I would consider goregrind.
Fuck. Both are good! Varituuk soundsa little bit like Gnaw Their Tongues (?)

In the name of forests; In the name of stars; In the name of all the seas; In the name of storms... Proud sons of ancient nation; Proud sons of sacred song in the wind; Proud sons behind a mirror of ice who told... Fathers of the icy age!!
Like black metal atmosphere and solos but hate black metal vocals? Then you'll probably like Avangard. The clicky drums are a bit poor but not too annoying. Haven't actually heard anything else from this record but I assume it's mostly like this, i.e. one giant solo pretty much but it's actually rather listenable for that fact.

Azathoth play some pretty damn good funeral doom with black influences. Not much variation in the music but it creates a really dark atmosphere. Only one track off the new album on youtube (you can find the rest... elsewhere)
And for a little more melancholy, Clouds Collide are a great mix of post-rock, shoegaze/blackgaze, and atmospheric black metal.
Guttural Secrete's new album comes out soon... but we have the internet so you can pretty easily find it. Really good for brutal death metal, particularly this song
Another one that I've listened to a few times today is Alkahest's Churning the Ocean. Really cool sludge infused psychedelic-y doom.
Polish Entropia releases debut album on February 28. Their music is a blend of black metal, post-rock and shoegaze... (this mix isn't exploited at all in Poland). So far available only one song, listen below.

Could certainly be amongst the stronger and more interesting death metal records this year. Quite progressive, a bit technical and the vocals are like a mix between Björn Strid and Devin Townsend (on some of the highs anyway) and some nice bouts of melody. Rather good stuff.

I can definitely hear the comparison with Devin Townsend, very nice. And there is some Björn Strid in there but it's old Björn Strid so also very good.

Ugh, this has so much potential, but it comes up just a bit short everywhere (at least from that one track). What a shame.
