You might wanna check out this new top-rated band from Germany.

They released their entire 2011 EP for free on their website www.darkesthorizon.com

Finnish...? Not sure about that

Here's some even more melodic stuff from the upcoming album.

Not as in the lyrics sound Finnish but a lot of Finnish bands have a very similar sound in their tuning and production (at least to me a lot of them have a similar sound to them) and this band has that sound in it's music and production.

Uh, Finland isn't a part of Scandinavia. And even if it was, you'd have to agree that Insomnium, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Noumena and Before the Dawn have a sound of their own, just like In Flames, Soilwork and Dark Tranquillity do

Not to mention ALL of the Finnish aesthetically Power metal-esque bands (CoB, Wintersun, Norther, Whispered, Nightwish, etc.) have a very distinct sound which is what this band reminds me of...

@Arathir And yea, Finnish history is more closely tied to Russian and Estonian history. Scandinavia would be the Viking countries Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland.

Yeah, that sounds right.
In a Metal Hammer article they were indeed compared to something between CoB and Ensiferum.
