Online musical Projects with other muisicians

Hey guys, i was thinking of starting a few musical projects online soon but there's one question id like to ask, how do you go about with online projects ? how do you send audio files back and forth and then place them into tracks ? if somebody could brief me on it i would be more than greatful cheers
