A World In Their Screams is the seventh and latest album from the French hard-to-categorize Elend. Offering us almost an hour of dark ambiences, neo-classical music and French whispers, this is bound to fall on deaf ears with most Metalstormers. But of course that is hardly a criteria since most Metalstormers are hardly experts on music outside of metal.

I am more thankful for that. There are many bands which are not metal at all and they are included into the data base and it is a very good thing

Already own The Undersun and Sunwar The Dead which are simply brilliant so I'm sure I'll get the same from this one.

Btw: I read somewhere that you might be interested in checking out Gnaw Their Tongues. After I listened to both... I ended up thinking that GTT had a similar but waaaaay filthier and sicker vibe. I think I made the comparison considering GTT uses a lot of classical tunes and of course the overall terror in the air.

Not sure if you are looking for any type of non metal bans or just those which sound like elend. Bands mentioned in "similar bands" box are probably the closest thing to elend. I listened to some Chaostar and Virgin Black loooooooooong time ago and I cant remember their sound now. The most similar thing to this album for me is Gnaw Their Tongues - L'Arrivée De La Terne Mort Triomphante , because of the combination of dark ambient and classical elements. GTT is definitely more abrasive. Check it out but do not expect fancy melodies and emotional solos

Yeah I did check it out [ Per Flagellum Sanguemque, Tenebras Veneramus and Eschatological Scatology ], but as you said GTT is exactly : waaay "filthier and sicker" I prefer Elend, they're much into neoclassical and ambient tone ( or maybe I'm wrong actually to make this comparison) , and Elend is not that "filthy" like GTT, BUT still GTT was kind of new stuff that I heard although I'm not expecting it to become one of my favs.

Didn't like this at all. Sorry, Ilham. Had a hard time actually finishing the whole album.

Might give it a second spin and then decide what to rate it.

Because sometimes it takes more than one spin to admire an album. Prime example being 'Order and Punishment' for me. Not guaranteeing it'll be the case here though.

There's a difference between not being sure about what you feel and totally disliking it. I don't understand why I'd subject myself again to something I hated and cound't even finish. There's a limit to that "you can't get everything from the first spin" thing. Doesn't anyone actually listen the the damn record during that first spin?

Elend should have collaborated with Blut Aus Nord. I can't think of a more compatible, or complementary, duo, personally (BaN circa The Thematic Work Which Emanates From MoRT)

That would have been too much for the world to handle. What you're asking for is the end of mankind as we know it

I've never really thought of them as darkwave, though I suppose they may contain some elements of it. Black metal though? Nah.
