Finally got round to this but not quite sure what to make of it. I like the component parts but it feels as though the band tried to do too much here and the songs just feel like bits of songs cobbled together and the whole thing lacks cohesion and consistency. Didn't quite impress me as much as the debut, as Alex says, it lacks the thick, brooding atmosphere of the debut which feels tighter and more focussed.

Yeah, have to say I agree here. Everything I'm hearing is good, but nothing great. The debut was fantastic, less variation but everything was done better. I still like it, but it seems like a mixed bag of great moments, and a lot of weird stuff executed poorly, but included for the sake of variation.

The debut was ok (better than "meh", thou ) but this is fuckin' incredibruuu (still the best of 2014 so far, but I'm very late on new releases).

Much, much, much nicer. Would have to see a bigger version though to be sure. A lot of the detail looks lost in that.

I actually like the older artwork personally, if only for its simplicity. This new one looks really fucking ugly.

New cover art looks awesome. At least the album has that going for it now.

^Same. That new artwork doesn't fit the style of Oi Magoi at all. It looks like it's inspired by early Hypocrisy, which is nothing like what HSN plays. Smh.

To me the current art looks like it belongs on an industrial metal album. I find the new artwork quite psychedelic in nature so fits better.

If you want to discuss the personalities of MS, feel free to find another venue for that. If you're that desperate, feel free to send me a message and we can chat about it privately. I don't think we're on the same page about it at all, but it's a reasonable thing to discuss if it means the topic doesn't come up as often on these threads.

Because it remains one of my favorite albums of 2014 and features what I find is some of the most unique, creative and memorable songwriting this year. I still wake up in the morning with some of the album's riffs in my head. I just feel that its a perfect blend of psych rock, cult horror, and black metal.

In contrast, I checked out Pneuma after I discovered this (why wouldn't I?) and I was really disappointed that it didn't take me on a magical journey as well. I might need to listen to it again based on the fact that I have literally forgotten what the entire album sounds like. From what I recall though, I felt that the songwriting had some cool ideas but needed...room to grow and mature, not sure how to explain it... but its something that Oi Magoi succeeds in.

Calling this album "ordinary" is pretty ludicrous. They're doing their own thing, and if you dig it, you dig it. I haven't been inspired to listen to this as much as the debut, but I can't find any particular reason for that apart from my own apathy.
