I've recently been listening to Decrepit Birth, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Origin.

All of their work is consistently solid so you should check them out although so far Fleshgod is my favourite.

There are loads more but most people have already told you my other suggesions.

The three of them are great bands.. my fav would have to be Decrepit Birth.

Well certainly, but both bands are referenced when you talk about "Jazz-death".

I agree. By the way, i like the last albul of Atheist... I know many people don't but it's a great surpirse to me and i'm glad to see them live.

I thought it was quite good to be honest. The last Pestilence though.....not so much.

I don't know if they've been already mentioned, but what do you think about Necrophagist?

I don't think they're as techy as people say, a single tap sweep tap run has been done by so many PM guitarist now it's old already. lol

Personally I love Necrophagist.. its a great band. Even though Yasmine thinks its not that technical They do great guitar-work.
And IMO they're technical enough to be called TDM lol and are really worth a listen. Epitaph and Onset Of Putrefaction are two great TDM albums.

I don't find anything wrong with being demonstrative when ur melodic and keep it right on track
sure they show their skills... but some people do like their style and im one of those and I don't really care about weither or not they are demonstrative.
I find Onset and Epitaph to be awesome albums on the TDM scene.

plus its not like some bands who demonstrate skills when recorded but sucks live... Necrophagist are actually great in live.

By the way, there is my band in the "suggestions" topic (at the end of the 1st page). The band name is Pestifer. Zines describe us as a "Tech death metal band" so I'd be glad to read a few comments.

Obscura, Gorod, Gorguts, and the latest Decrepit Birth albums are pretty technical. All the other pioneer technical death metal artists are mentioned by others.

I think Posthumous Blasphemer is worth to check

holy shit I'll just say thanks for your post Im so gonna dig into this... I never thought someone would bring me something I don't know in TDM but you actually just did theres few names up there that I've never seen.

I see a few there that wouldn't be technical at all by most standards.

Cool list HoboRobo, you've pretty much covered most good ones. You could add Hieronymus Bosch to that as well.Pretty cool TDM from Russia (I think).
I used to be a big TDM fan, but I've gotten quite bored of it, coz its pretty much the same stuff with all the newer bands, nothing new.
I still like to listen to a few bands now and then
Behold the arctopus (Marston is pure genius, love most of all his projects)
Gorguts
Illogicist- these guys were a really cool find, very melodic and a great bass player. Their second release wasn't that great though.
Pavor is another decent band, great bassist again
Sickening horror- their first album was awesome again sweet basslines, the second album didn't impress me that much though.
Gory blister had some cool stuff as well

Necrophagist- Muhammed Suicmez is the beast !!

I find Decapitated's first album to be one of the greats of TDM that i have heard. I think because the wrote the material at such a young age (i think Vitek was in his early teens) and could make such complex music, makes them brilliant.

If you like Nile you must listen to this band from Chile, Godagainst! they play Technical Brutal Death Metal:
