I hate Glen Benton's voice.

I liked it on the elder albums though.

I like the music, but Benton's voice is just unpleasantly in the middle for me.

Well, I haven't heard Stench of Redemption, and only on this computer I have a sort of "Best Of" compilation. So I'm not sure. D:

Benton's voice is crap on a lot of the older material...I find that his voice is really good on Once Upon The Cross and Insineratehymn...his vocals kill on those two albums...

Benton is a killer vocalist. I saw him live in Vital Remains and Deicide one after the next, on the same night! Vital Remains played for about 40 minutes and Deicide played for about an hour, and Glen sounded strong the whole entire time.

I prefer his vocal style when it became lower, like after Legion. He can growl low with strong force, but still remain articulate.

I pretty much don't like Glen Benton at all, voice included.

stench of redemption is mediocre. 3 good songs. but not one of their best ever. the best of compilation is good shit

I'm actually the opposite. His performance on the debut was just amazing. Back then, he would scream with actual emotion. When I heard him on the debut, I knew there was some real rage behind his screams, and it was fucking awesome. Beginning with Once Upon the Cross, he was more or less just talking in a deep voice.

I think Bentons voice in the beginning of that song is perfect because it helped build momentum for the change into the verse. If only the rest of the album kicked as much arse...imo.

The Stench of Redemption was a pretty good album, but personally i like Scars of the Crucifix. That had really good songs including The Pentecostal, Scars of the Crucifix and so on.

Early Deicide is pivital oldschool DM, and seeing as I'm a sucker for oldschool, I prefer Deicide's first couple of albums to everything they've done since...not that it all hasn't been terrific!

Yeah. I would have to agree. Their first album was very good. The best of had a great setlist. I jut hope that their new one is going to be less disappointing than their latest.

I do admit, I listen to their first few albums much alot more the I do with Stench Of Redemption, still a solid Death Metal release. Very focused I would say.

I have made the mistake of lending my SG to a friend and he fucked it up and took it to the shop and shit...without telling me....and when I got it back the neck was warped as fuck and the truss rod was maxed out. I was so pissed....damn black people. Lol.

Well...explain yourself...you need reasons...

The first two Deicide albums are classic death metal albums, no doubt about that. After that they slowly degenerated into a parody of themselves. Glen Benton having one of the best voices in death metal seriously needs to find a new lyrical topic, the satanic and anti-christian lyrics have gotten old. Especially when they're done as immaturely as Glen does them.
