Maybe he means that physical albums had a lot of things accompanying, which some of them are pretentious and because of these extra things (like posters perhaps) the whole package is expensive.

No. It doesn't include anything besides the classic "you get an instant download link". It's just expensive (but like I said, I've seen worse).
