Just yesterday I got my copy of Angtoria's new cd. I am really blown away. For sure this will be one of the best of 2006.

I'm really impressed by all aspects of this album. The music is really bombastic: big, loud, aggressive, crunchy metal paired with the drama of a symphony orchestra. The music could stand alone but so could the vocals. Both are so strong. Sara has really discovered a new voice for herself. Gone is the high soprano from Therion, this is a very unique voice she presents.

This is truly "symphonic" metal. Unlike the light, fluffy, soprano-fronted bands we call "symphonic" metal.. this really is. Nothing light and fluffy here. This is symphonic METAL! I really can't say enough good things about this album. Better go listen again

I love the orchestra in this album. Angtoria knocks a good number of other so called symphonic metal bands out of the water. Definitely a great album of '06! Sara's vocals are awesome as well. Go pick up God Has A Plan For Us All if you don't already have it!

I just am not impressed by this record, as much as I'd like to be. I mean, there are competent vocals, lots of symphonic parts and the drumwork is energetic enough. But it just all seems contrived or even at odds with itself. The lyrical subject that Sara sings about to me is interesting, but when the words are actually sang, I feel nothing. She seems so intent upon making perfect transitions between each note with her voice more than putting genuine passion or reality into the words themselves.

For example: The track "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" ... I have never heard a woman say this line without a level of dark humor, anger, or bitterness--something dark/negative. However, when Sara sings this line, I hear none of this. It almost sounds like she's glorifying or even song-a-long-like when she says it. I can't take the songs seriously, because the lyrics seem at odds with the performance.

This release is full of competent musicians that should be successful, and I'm a total sucker for music like this, but not when it contradicts itself. To me, it's like they need to hire a "director" or something to get the band members to aim their sights better at a purpose. If the lyrics were all happy and inspirational, I'd be more respectful of the product here, but it's not. Good for a debut, but other than that, I'm not impressed.

Aww I feel the exact opposite! I feel lots of emotion from her in (almost) all of the songs, and as a singer myself I find myself annoyed at all the flaws in her vocal performance. Part of the reason this album didn't get a 10 rating from me IS her performance and technique but I know I'm really nitpicking at her flaws, the overall performance is great.

I feel emotion in many of the lines she sings. Especially in the title track when she sings the line "whispered my name, took my innocence away" when she says the word "name" I feel she's suddently struck by an uncontrolable emotional pang. I also feel a truth when she sings about cutting herself in "Do you see me now" and same with "That's what the wise lady said." Actually, she seems quite emotive on most of the songs

Regarding "Hell Hath No Fury.." I agree this is one of the weakest songs on the album and I dispute little of what you said We can agree on something!

@Frostbitten: The Kylie Minogue cover, Confide In Me, is a great cover. I don't know the original but Angtoria sure plays it like it's one of their own. I didn't even realize it was a cover until my review was published and the tracklisting showed up on MS It's not silly pop, don't worry!

Actually, despite my disappointment in the album as I stated above, I found the cover one of the best tracks on the disc (alongside with the title track). And to be honest, if I didn't realize it was a cover, I would likely have said something like "it's too bad 'confide in me' isn't nearer to the front of the CD as it is certainly one of the better pieces". It fits right in with the CD as well--one would never know it was a cover without some prior knowledge or by reading the liner notes I'd say....

Angtoria are nice.Nothing special, but I like many of the songs from"God has a plan for us all".

The Deva performs all songs awesome,as usually, but I prefer her operatic way of singing.

The best of Angtoria is definitely the orchestration, I would say that the are orchestral metal rather than symphonic. Sara's vocals are really good, very different from what we've heard from her in other bands. The album is really good, but a little bit more strenght would be better.

I like them....the music that Sara makes plus her voice resemble Mandragora Scream and Morgan LaCroix but Angtoria is more symphonic than MScream....grand band anyway...I like the Kylie cover a lot.....
