Scar Symmetry - Release Lyric Video For New Single

Swedish melodic death metallers Scar Symmetry will release their new album The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity) this coming October and today marks the release of the first single called "Limits To Infinity". Aren't you curious about the new material? Well, watch the lyric video of the song here now! Guitarist Per Nilsson said that the new album is the most progressive and elaborate project in the history of Scar Symmetry.

The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity) drops on October 3rd (Europe), October 6th (UK and France) and October 14th (US) 2014 via Nuclear Blast and it is the first part of a trilogy.

Per Nilsson comments on the song: "I thought to myself... am I allowed to fuse death metal with AOR, and go extreme in both directions? I didn't ask for permission, I just went and did it, and I'm pretty excited to hear what people are gonna think about it."

Henrik Ohlsson adds: "'Limits To Infinity' unveils the malevolent plan of the elite, the hidden hand, and their discoveries regarding the secrets of the universe. The lyric elaborates on the decision makers' long-term plan to merge with machines and colonize other planets."

I want to say something about the cover, but I don't even need to. Everyone can see it. I'll also let you guys bash the song.

Looks worse than the special effects used in the first season of Star Trek TOS.

I'm OK with the song. That cover though ... You know that was probably done in-house, aka for free.

It's just the cover of the single though, guys. The album cover is a little more elaborated.

The song left me intrigued, I should end up checking the album out. For the record, it seems they didn't go for catchy with this one.

Not bad, but not great either. Definitely better than the bands last few outputs, though. Unfortunately they will probably never be able to top their releases fronted by Christian...

What is this prog shit? And why is it under Scar Symmetry?

Holographic Universe has strong prog-power leanings and it's their best album.

Could just be a bad pick for a single? I hope so. Then again, I can see how a band can have a hard time creating new material over was already considered masterpieces.

If you take it at face-value, it's not that bad.
Am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with the cover art?
EDIT: Great solo from Per Nilsson, as usual.

The clean singing is almost as embarrassing as the cover. It's so disappointing to discover a cool band and a minute after to see what have become of it.

Man, this is probably one of my all time favorite songs by them. After listening to this for the last few weeks and the clips from each song I think we may be getting the highest quality album from them since Holographic Universe. Well, at least I like it.

They're getting increasingly proggy with every upcoming album, and I'm not overly enthusiastic about it tbh. As a Sci Fi nut, I love the concept behind the trilogy, it's bold and ambitious undertaking for sure, but will it be executed correctly? This song didn't leave a lasting impression on me when I first heard it (which was like 10 minutes ago at the time of writing this). Maybe I change my mind, but I doubt it.
