Sanctuary - Lyric Video For Another New Song

After Sanctuary released the track "Arise And Purify" from their new album, now it's time to hear some more material off of The Year The Sun Died. The Seattle metal band has now posted a lyric video for the track "Exitium (Anthem Of The Living)" and showcases yet another foretaste of what we can expect from their upcoming opus.

After you listen to the track, give us your impressions. Do you prefer this song?

Expect The Year The Sun Died to be released in Europe on October 6th and October 14th in North America via Century Media Records.

I really don't like saying this, but that sounded extremely forgettable. Sadly.

Yeah not what I expected. I think it sounds more like Nevermore than Sanctuary, and that's not a bad thing at all, but in my opinion both new tracks are mediocre at best.

I've been a huge fan of Sanctuary and Nevermore both for 20+ years now, so maybe I just expect too much. Like another Refuge Denied.

Still anxious to hear the rest of the album though.

I'm not that optimistic anymore... Although, even if it's bad, at least it will introduce new fans to their old albums. That's never a bad thing.

Agreed. I've been listening to Into the Mirror Black today and it is definitely one of the finest albums to come out of the late 80s/early 90s US Power/Thrash movement. I'm not sure how good this new album will be, but hopefully it will spawn a tour. I'd love to see their old stuff live.

Except some of those fans will be disappointed to hear more traditional power/thrash and not Nevermore Mk 2.

Maybe they'll enjoy that way more than a watered-down Nevermore?

I find this really bad, but also find Nevermore to be one of the worst bands ever so it makes sense. But the really old Sanctuary stuff is pretty good.

Depends on what you're looking for.

There's a massive stylistic gap between watered down Nevermore and late 1980s US power metal. I knew a few people that liked Nevermore but hated or at least didn't listen to power metal/heavy metal or even 1980s thrash.

Yeah, but I'm just saying not everyone needs to dislike Nevermore in order to enjoy old Sanctuary.
